I have a govt ID, so that is not a problem. I don't think I'm "risking" anything because I am not being deceitful - not pretending to be on govt business. If the rate rules only indicate that you must have valid government ID and I present that at check-in, then that should be sufficient - if there was a problem, I would argue my case with the manager. That being said, I don't want to make it sound like I use these rates frequently. Many times the resorts that I go to do not even offer govt rates. I've used them several times in Puerto Rico and a couple of times in California and maybe another couple of places.

Anyway, this topic is a dead horse. Obviously, different folks have had different experiences using govt rates.
