gordon biersch in seattle
Anyone know anything about this place? Is it a nice place to go for dinner before a show when visiting in seattle? TYVM

Basic shopping center beer boutique - sun dried this, broiled that, good, expensive beer. Located in the Pacific Place shopping center next door to a multiplex cinema, upstairs from Barnes and Noble, other upscale retailers. $8 burgers, you know the scene.

Yeah, it's another "expensive burger restaurant chain," but as expensive burger restaurant go, it's pretty nice. Friends of mine have raved about it. I thought it was decent but nothing fantastic. So it depends on your tastes.

Andrew
As I recall, it is a nonsmoking place, so very nice.

Our family like eating here. The food was much better quality than most chains. Nicely decorated and friendly service. My family do not like going to "fancy" formal restaurants so they were thrilled with this.Everything was good. In fact, we ate there twice.

Fact #1, it is in a mall
Fact #2, pizza, burgers, pasta, salad
Fact #3, Football on the TV's

Go for dinner before a show? Not me. Stop in for a beer or light lunch while shopping, yep. This is purely a jeans and sweater, family oriented pub.

Wendy

xxx--every restaurant in Seattle is non-smoking (except maybe in the bar section).
|
Correction then -- SMOKE FREE ESTABLISHMENT, which means there is no smoking in the bar either. (As if some sort of barrier exists to prevent the smoke from wafting over into the dining room.)
|
You're SUCH a DWEEB, xxx.

Takes one to know one. ;)

Gordon Biersch is a chain that started in San Jose, CA. There are five (I think) Gordon Bierschs around the SF Bay area. They have good beer and good food--a little on the high end but it is a microbrewery. It's a place where people meet after work, go to for business lunches, etc. Not sure if it's as fancy as you are thinking.

Monica is right about Gordon Biersch starting in San Jose. I have been to the one here in SJ and thought that the food and beer were very good. It is a little on the pricier side, but worth it. There are several in the suburbs outside of the city along the Peninsula. The one in SJ even has live music in the patio are during the spring and summer. I can't speak for the one in Seattle, but being that it is a chain, I assume that quality will be fairly consistent.

Where was "fancy" implied here? The guy asked about dinner before a "show". What threshold does a restaurant have to meet before being considered suitable for a pre-movie meal? (Even if "show" meant play, it's still fine) The 3 I've visited in the SF area (SJ, Palo Alto, SF) have all been good - actually the best micro-brewery restaurants I've been to anywhere, don't know about the Seattle one however.

As far as chains go, Gordon Biersch is one of the best I have been to. I have been to two in the San Jose area (one in SJ and the other in SF) and both had equally good food and service.
