Lisa: I knew you would enjoy Godiva's Truffles, they are expensive but well worth the extra money. Savor them. Enjoy.
I say See's is the best!

La Maison du Chocolat has the best chocolate in the world ( made by Robert Linxe one of the masters of the art of chocolate)
25 E 73rd street

You can buy Godiva chocolates on-line from 1-800-flowers and from the shopping channel on aol. They both carry a complet selection.

Here's a STRONG recommendation for Joseph Schmidt chocolates, from San Francisco. Their truffles are to die for...I received a box from my spouse for valentine's day a few years ago and almost got sick because I couldn't put them down! They are better than any I've eaten in Europe or the U.S.

Although the utility of this post is useless to Lisa (she is long back home by now shoveling snow)...one last thought
I still pick Godiva because people are impressed by it. They love the box and the hype. As a New Yorker, I know that there is something about a Tiffany's box even if it is only a cheap keychain. If you are giving a present, understand and just accept that people like the name brand and, in this case, that gold box. I am leaving myself open to excessive criticism but no one can argue that even if this should not be the case, it is. And since it is someone else's present, it is selfish not to go along.

John, received a "complimentary" box of the Schmidt chocolates when I checked into a suite at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Never had them before -- INCREDIBLE and as large as silver dollars!!

I think that Neuhaus makes the best chocolates. My second choice is Martine's which are made and sold only at Bloomingdale's in NYC.

PERSONALLY, I PREFER MY GODIVA UNWRAPPED!
BON APPETIT,
AUGUSTE

Jeff is right with Godiva, they love the packaging. They make great looking boxes, However, with Neuhaus, they will love the chocolate ....a richness not easily duplicated.

As a chocohlic, I can tell you that Neuhaus Choclolate will be savored like a glass of fine red wine( not a bad combo, by the way)
