Friday Raves and Rants

Friday cancelled. Go back home. Start Saturday now. Enjoy 4 day weekend.

TopMan Oct 8th, 2004 12:42 AM

Will it be hot or cold on the "four-day" weekend? Do I need to dress "in layers" or can I wear sandals? Will everything be closed? Do I need air conditioning? Is four days enough time to "see everything?" What are the MUST DOs???? How much do I tip? Can I drive all the way to the coast and be back again in 2 hrs and 34 minutes? Should I take the train or the bus? Does anyone know a very "charming" non-chain hotel...my budget is $2.50 a night. Is it safe to walk around after dark? Will I encounter any anti-American sentiment?

Rave- A lovely fall day here in Central NJ. Planning on a weekend close to home with family.

Rant- Eldest son has Mono and can't work. His girlfriend wants to know where he got it from. LOL

All in all not much to complain about at home. (Now politics...well, thats another story.) Have a safe and healthy weekend, Fodors family.

Rave: It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada - so much to be thankful for!
Rant: Somehow I have to produce a major turkey dinner on Sunday and I haven't even started grocery shopping yet.
Rave: I LOVE it when all the kids and grandkids come for Thanksgiving dinner!

LoriNY Oct 8th, 2004 04:46 AM

Rave: it's Friday and I have a 3 day weekend.
Rave: My husband's goddaughter is in town from California and wants to spend the weekend with us on LI, not in NYC. Go figure. Thinking the wineries on the east end on Sunday.
Rant: What to do with them (her and a friend)

Happy weekend to all!

ms_go Oct 8th, 2004 04:58 AM

Rave: it is pouring down rain this morning. That's a rave because it has been so dry here in Chicago, and our yard is very happy now.

Rave: we've just finished booking all our accommodations for a trip to Naples and the Amalfi Coast next year.

Rant: I have to wait eight months to go on the trip.

Rave: business is really good right now; I have more writing to do than I have time to do it -- and here I am writing on Fodors instead (go figure).

Happy weekend, everyone!

Rant: My brother's orders have been cut. He reports on November 2nd for training and will be in Baghdad by mid- January. Election day, how ironic.

cfc Oct 8th, 2004 05:06 AM

Old Rave: another perfect day. October is the most glorious month in almost any part of the country, no?

Old Rant: Fodor website hiccups and amnesias.... having posts disappear after a Thursday where access was often impossible.

New Rave: Beginning to put together summer trip to Mediterranean.

New Rant: Unbefrickenlievable fare increases, charges for upgrades, surcharges on surcharges for trans-Atlantic travel. You'd think the airlines were trying to stop all leisure out-of-our-own-pocket transatlantic travel.

bonniebroad Oct 8th, 2004 05:07 AM

RAVE: Glorious weather here in Raleigh, in the 70's, blue skies, brilliant sun........ Wow! :-)

RAVE: My Cairn Terrier's ((&)) 15th birthday today! Friends coming over. Party on the back porch.... filet mignon, chocolate cake, homemade ice cream, Margaritas.....all his favorites! (Well, maybe not the Margaritas! :-d )

RAVE: A long weekend in the mountains, lunch at Chateau Morrisette on Monday, and getting to see the Fall foliage on the Blue Ridge Parkway

RAVE: N.C. State Wolfpack.... You go, guys!!!

RANT: My Carolina Panthers ... another story! :-(

RAVE: Twenty-two pounds off now, exercised five times in the last week! :-)

Have a wonderful weekend, all! ;;)

radiofanatic Oct 8th, 2004 05:57 AM

Bonniebroad- I'm so jealous! I grew up in Roanoke and Chateau Morrissette is one of my fave places! I go there everytime I visit my parents - I was there on labor day. I'll drink some Morrisette wine in your honor!

Rant - for the first time in 7 years, I do NOT have monday off b/c of a new job - to make it worse, my dh does!

RAVE - beautiful indian summer weather, and three of our best friends, who we haven't seen in awhile, are coming to town. Also, going to DC at the end of the month for my bday!

bonniebroad Oct 8th, 2004 06:05 AM

Radiofanatic, The Chateau is one cool place to go, isn't it? We've only had one bad experience there on a very crowded Father's Day, but, otherwise, it's been superb. (They sent me a $35 gift certificate to make up for that! :-) ) We love the place, and I'm looking forward to Monday. Will drink a glass of Blue Dog for you!!!!!!!!

radiofanatic Oct 8th, 2004 06:46 AM

And pet their "puppies" for me too!

GoTravel Oct 8th, 2004 06:58 AM

Rave: The sun is shining and it is a glorious day!

Rave: My Gamecocks broke the top 25 on the AP poll.

Rant: They didn't break the top 25 on the USA Today/ESPN poll.

Kal Oct 8th, 2004 07:08 AM

Date night with Mrs Kal last night.
Good dinner and we saw "NBC's Last Comic Standing's" Jay London, Alonzo Bodden and Gary Gulman at The Punchline. VERY funny!

#-O:
Since Mrs Kal was the DD, I may have had a few too many ((D))((D)) and slept thru the alarm this a.m....but really don't care. I-)

highbay Oct 8th, 2004 07:13 AM
