I stepped on a sand spur in my yard on the way to the beach and now I've got one needle stuck in my foot.
|
ahotpoet,
Gütiger Himmel, my bad - did not read it thoroughly. "Unser" is perfectly fine. And I apologize for the misspelling of your screen name ;-)! |
I don't know what a sand spur is.
|
More useless infor - my FIL roomed with Dan Blocker (Hoss) in school.
P_M - I want to hear that yodel! A giraffe's tongue is 18 to 20 inches long and blue-black. A cow gives nearly 200,000 glasses of milk in her lifetime. |

If someone tells you what a sand spur is then it becomes useful information. For that you need a new thread. ;-) HSV I kinda liked ahotpet (where's that smiley with the fluttering eyelashes?) |
Another from the animal kingdom, but I don't want to get this thread pulled because of graphic detail and perhaps a "no no word" or two, so instead, anyone interested in how female hyenas give birth...through an organ normally attributed only to the other sex (sort of)...take a look at this link: http://tinyurl.com/ltlpz
OUCH!! |
AnnMarie...you know those tiny little nasties, sandburs, that get caught on your shoes in some yards here? Same animal.
|
Indianapolis the capitol of Indiana doesn't count as having its state in its name? :-)
|
July and August are the only consecutive months that have 31 days.
|
JAGIRL, what about December and January?
|
Can anyone tell me what breed of dog was in the Harrison Ford movie Firewall? Seemed like a safe place to ask before I start some specified search. Thanks.
|
Re: Firewall pup-<i>"A mixed-breed terrier named “Boomer” played the role of the Stanfields’ dog, “Rusty"....</i>
I hope this was not too useful :D |
P_M
I meant consecutive : as in January to December...12 month period... ahhh...whatever. It was useless information anyway! :) |
Scarlett~ thanks, and it was totally useless-NOT, lol.
Hey, now that bathing suit season has arrived, does anyone have any decadent fudge recipes they'd like to share? Do people still wear pantyhose? Can I use Preparation H in place of Botox near my eyes? Should I have just one more glass of wine tonight? J. |
Jetset one of life's little lessons: "Merlot and E-mail don't mix."
Now Fodor's and VO Manhattans? THAT'S a whole 'nother story. :-D |
jetset
No fudge recipes but...there are some fried pickle recipes somewhere on this board...everybody swears that fried pickles are really good! Fried pickles...fried corn on the cob...fried twinkies...fried snickers (does that count as a fudge recipe?)... :) |
More useless tidbits:
I haven't packed for my trip this Friday to London. Yikes! :O Hm...fried pickles and fried junk food? Sounding yummy. Perhaps it's time for a near midnight snack? Oh, what about fried fudge? |
Fried fudge? Ahem. A line has been crossed. Fudge is nothing but fat and sugar chemically combined in a special, special way. No need to deep-fat fry it. :-)
|
hey indy...
If you can deep fry a snickers...fudge doesn't yet cross the line! :) |
In Fairbanks, Alaska, in the summer, the sun rises and sets in the north (not due north, but near it).
This is very confusing to tourists. |
I had fried mini snickers with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce one time at this gourmet restaurant and it was divine!
|
May 25th is National Towel Day I suspect Faina might already know this!)
February 21st is National Sticky Bun Day. |
Bummer, I have to wait until Feb 21st ?? to celebrate Sticky Bun Day? :(
Is here a National Chocolate Cake day? |
The correct answer is Indianapolis but technically I suppose Oklahoma City is also correct so I guess there are TWO capital cities which do so.
|
Fudge...easy...
Heat one can of Eagle Brand over LOW heat Add a bunch of chocolate chips and walnuts or pecans; stir until blended Add a couple TBP of butter Pour into 9X13 pan and refrigerate until cooled and set. |

FainaAgain gets my first monthly Best Thread award to the OP with an original Friday anti-work thread.
But it can't get too organized because then it will become useful. Well I guess it already is because it was useful in making me laugh. VERY USEFUL. Totally useless in general but interesting to some: There is a deepsea angler fish which mystified biologists for many years. The fish is about 46mm long and has all kinds of spikes and bulges on its body. They could never identify any male fish, the fish they caught or studied were always all female. Finally someone figured out that one of the protuberances on the body and tail were males about 6.2mm long. They at some early stage become parasites to the female. She is 8 times larger than he is and she could have 2 or 3 handy for egg fertilizing. The male's mouth disolves and they even lose their own blood supply- fusing right into the female's. And you thought you were always doing the majority of the housework. |
I got the opportunity to fly over the beautiful Chesapeake Bay Saturday morning courtesy of the MD state police helicopter due to an unfortunate event with a riding lawnmower. A somewhat useless part of my pinky finger was disposed of at Union Memorial in Baltimore and a lesson has been learned.
|
Ouch, sorry.
|
My condolences on the loss of part of your pinkie, George :(
Here, have a piece of cake ((F)) |
Sorry to hear of your pinky GeorgeW.
Curious though...what was the lesson learned? Or will that info be so useful that we'll have to be kept in suspense until Faina posts her upcoming <font color="blue">Friday Fun: useful info thread? </font> |
4 out of every 3 people have problems with fractions.
|
Lesson learned- when one of your belt rotors is inert on your riding lawnmower, don't do a fool thing like use your hand to prod your rotor to start spinning. It might start spinning again at a moments' notice.
|
4 out of 3 people?????
Does that mean 1 out of every 3 people have a split personality??? |
I don't know about that, LoveItaly, I'll have to ask my alter ego, M_P. She's the smart one....
|
JAGIRL, your info on all of those National Sweets Days is indeed useFUL information, as I now plan to celebrate all of those important dates accordingly. Hence that info is uselsess on an useless info thread....if that makes any sense.
I like most all sweets but not sticky buns. That name "sticky buns" conjurs up images of me sitting in maple syrup and not being able to get up. :-[ |
>>> 4 out of every 3 people have problems with fractions<<<
Reminds me of a former co-worker's favorite joke - He and his wife were considering having another child (they had 3 kids) but reconsidered when he heard that 1 out of every 4 babies in the world was Chinese. They decided they prefer not to have a Chinese baby. Inside joke - he was a middle school math teacher. He loved the play on meaning :-) |
good one, starrsy!!
Your story reminded me of a useless fact. My great-grandmother was the first white baby born in Guthrie, OK, which was then the capital city. At that time Oklahoma was still called Indian Territory, as it was reserved for Native Americans only. Which makes me wonder how or why my white ancestors were living there.... :-? |
Well P_M, Scarlett did ask.
How could I do her the grave disservice of not alerting her to the many days devoted to celebrating chocolate! :-) |
