"Travel light - preconception and prejudice are unnecessary luggage"

Little_Man May 19th, 2006 04:46 PM

you can't take it with you -- don't cheap out on vacation, especially if you're like us and can't get away for very long on vacation. Or/ you get what you pay for!

Old faithful - "don't be a tourist, be a traveller"

Also, wish I didn't just use the phrase "on island time" - hope to one day actually live it!

My husband's : "Go big or stay home"
It's no fun scrimping and counting pennies while on vacation.

Mine: "Only sugar melts in the rain", as it rains almost every vacation that we ever go on...including places where its rarely does. Hey, you can't fight mother nature.

Travel light, but be prepared. It's a balancing act between the two. Also, be flexible and adaptable to change things up if necessary. Luggage on wheels are your travel "buddies". :-)

A ship in the harbour is safe, but that is not what ships were built for.

I can sleep when I get home.

Rain is just liquid sunshine!

Ah, BuffaloGirl, my sentiments exactly! I always say I can spend the whole day outside very happily, but at night I need a bed and a bathroom!

So many of my friends/neighbors spend so much time and $$ worrying about their house, their new kitchen, what needs to be re-done next. I feel like my priorities are always to get AWAY from my house.

phieaglefan May 20th, 2006 05:48 AM

A bad day traveling is still better than a good day at work!

Karens- I concur completely about the house thing. People ask me how we can travel so often. I tell them that I simply make it my top priority. Then it's easy!

Great post Faina!

Wow it's just like home, only better!

girlonthego May 20th, 2006 06:35 AM

I love to be in a place where I don't have to cook or clean!

Different cultures teach you more than you will ever learn in a classroom.

If you change your plans two days before your trip, don't tell your husband how much it cost till he enjoys the vacation (just did this :)!) He loved the vacation so much he said it was all worth it!

Don't let the dust settle around your feet.

I love all of your comments! :)

There's no place like home.

"Expect the unexpected."

"The faster you switch over to 'island time,' the happier you'll be."

(Most of our travel is to the Caribbean.)
