Raves: Statia's good news, Bonnie and scarlett's diets,
Budman's home from Tuscany, jor's back, And I'm alive!
Rant: Those who lost so much due to the horrible actions of mother nature.
the on going wars,
the spiteful posters.

Rave: I found a great new restaurant here in town and was able to save $20 on our meal last Fri. night!

Rant: Trying to lose a few pounds before the holidays and DH hands me a goblet full of Vanilla Haagan Daz & my favorite chocolate-orange wine sauce while watching the debate last night!

Rave: DD was the top shooter in the water polo tournament last weekend and got her name read over the loud speaker at school. She thought that was really cool!

Rant: Squeeky brakes and steering acting weird on our car with over 150,000 miles on it. I know we have trade "her" in, I'm pretty attached to this car, tho!

Rave: I was able to spend some quality time with busy DD this week. We watched ET while the guys went to Forgotten, I took her out of school for a couple of hours this week to come home and get caught up on some homework. She thinks it would be nice to be home-schooled (like one of her older brothers) so she could "eat PBJ's whenever she wanted to!")

Rant: Haven't been able to make it up to our condo, maybe this weekend for a day trip, if we're lucky!

Rave: Got our first renter's check from our newly remodeled beach cottage in Seaside, Oregon! That was fun!

Rant: Our sectional we ordered for the cottage "got lost." A new one should be shipped shortly!

Rave: DD was asked by my son's fiance to be a bridesmaid this week! (sniff, sniff) She's really thrilled!

Rave: Kind-hearted sons that pick their moms red roses and say,"this is for you, MOM." Happy fall everyone! Enjoy the weekend! ***kim*** :)

Rave: all of you great Fodorites that I look forward to keeping up with all week - I love this thread!
Rave #2: It's a beautiful sunny day.
Rant: It's supposed to rain tomorrow.
Rave: That means I won't have to water the veggie garden. I, too, have to beg people to help us with our surfeit of tomatoes, and there are eggplants coming. We've got oregano and basil too; somebody told us we're growing a pizza. :)

Who cares to look for Waldo, let's him stay hidden, gimme Jor!!

Rave: I won't be on Fodor's next Friday, will be on my way to Boston instead!

Can somebody put a line in for me next Friday :)

TGIF Fodors Peeps!

RAVE: I have managed to NOT spill the beans to DH about our surprise trip to Vegas in January.

RANT: I have to keep my mouth shut till x-mas...yikes!

Rave: Fresh apples from Dixon's in Pena Blanca, NM

Rave: We're going to San Antonio in two weeks for dd's suitor's basic training graduation

Rant: We don't have any money, so can't afford to do anything fun while we're there :-/

Ahh Gee Kim-You got me sniffling with the rose thing...

Rave-To bonnie, rj's sister and everyone else who is doing great. Way to go!

Rant-I was perusing the dog rescue websites looking to adopt another dog. The abuse stories are just horrendous!

Rave-Beautiful fall weather. Here's hoping Fodorite Floridians have blue skies and calm winds..

Fodorite018 Oct 1st, 2004 12:13 PM

Rave--Maybe the mountain erupting now will give me my wish so we can still go backpack there this winter! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Bonnie--There is a fantastic pumpkin bread recipe from Cooking Light.

Budman--Have fun at the Navy Ball for us! DH recently retired and we won't make a ball until next spring most likely.

dcespedes Oct 1st, 2004 12:14 PM

Lee Ann--will you have a car? There are fun things to do in San Antonio that don't cost much if at all...you can visit the River Walk & La Villita--if you park at River Center Mall get your parking ticket validated by one of the stores and that will get you an hour or two of free parking. The Alamo is free though there is a donation box. Downtown is beautiful and definately worth a visit if you haven't been before. :-)

Meesthare--what time is dinner? :-D

seetheworld Oct 1st, 2004 12:14 PM

Rave: It's Friday! The kids are doing well in college and DH's upcoming business trip was delayed a week!

Rant: I have a report that must be completed this weekend #o

Rave: My reward will be to go on a Fall shoe shopping spree this weekend...yippie! A gal needs a little motivation every now and again :D

Rant: Dell computers! DS's new laptop wouldn't operate only 3 weeks after receiving it. DS and DH spent hours with tech support with no satisfaction. The ultimatum was finally given: send someone to fix it or replace it!

RAVE: Dell sent a new computer :)

RANT: Politics!

RAVE: Good health, weight loss and chilly nights!

Have a terrific weekend!

mms--which issue?

kimamom Oct 1st, 2004 12:27 PM

Buckyeyemom: its' cute when they do this when they're small, but when a 17 yr. old does something like this, it's REALLY nice!! ***kim*** :)

bonniebroad Oct 1st, 2004 12:43 PM

Thanks for the pumpkin bread tip, Mms. I am looking for a streamlined version this year! :-)

Fodorite018 Oct 1st, 2004 12:44 PM

dcespedes, it is the November 1998 issue. My moms old recipe was always out favorite...but it was too heavy for a healthy diet and this one has now recplaced it. Another favorite fall recipe from CL is the cinnamon apple cake from October 1997. I always get asked for both of these recipes.

bonniebroad Oct 1st, 2004 12:52 PM

Mms, would you like to post that recipe? I thought I could get it off their site, but I don't get the magazine, and am not an AOL member, so it blocks me! Thanksabunch!

dcespedes Oct 1st, 2004 12:52 PM

Thank you!!! I love CL magazine :-)

Fodorite018 Oct 1st, 2004 01:09 PM

I do too! I have an entire bookshelf devoted to it, lol! It is hidden in a closet though so that visitors don't wonder about me too much, lol!

dcespedes Oct 1st, 2004 01:44 PM

Hi bonniebroad--here's the link to Spicy Pumkin Bread, November 1998 :-)

dcespedes Oct 1st, 2004 01:45 PM

Ooops... here it is--let me know if you have trouble accessing it :-)

bonniebroad Oct 1st, 2004 01:48 PM

dcespedes, thank you for trying but when I copy and paste, it will not let me in!!! :-( I do subscribe to Southern Living, but not CL yet! Could you copy the actual recipe to my "Traveled in the Southern U.S." thread? Thanks for trying!!!:-)
