OWJ~I know you are asking about a place to get away to. How about Cumberland Island?

Mama Oct 30th, 2004 01:06 PM

mrwunrfl, you are invited to our house. We never serve any alcohol but we have great parties and we all talk about our trips

Raves: mrwunrfl who not only had the fortitude to overcome his problem 16 years ago but who is kind and strong enough to post his accomplishment on this board so that perhaps others will be inspired.

Raves: To all the beautiful Fodorties that are polite, loving and truly enjoy sharing their knowledge, thoughts and care regardless of what problems they may have in their lives.

Raves: To the posters that give all of us a good laugh, or at least a giggle.

Rants: None. Life is to precious.

Irritations: Can we just get the elections over with and can we get the results within say a reasonable 24 hours so that one can turn on the TV without being bombarded with the talking heads, sigh.

Wishes: That all of you have someone you can lean on, that cares. That you are as blessed as I am with truly wonderful loving family and friends including some Fodorites who have truly touched my heart.

mrwunfl---you've done WONDERFUL! Now go off and take yourself on a anniversary trip and then tell us all about it!

Scarlett Oct 30th, 2004 06:05 PM

Mmmm~mrwunrfl, just another reason why you are, indeed, mrwunrfl ((L))
It takes a special person and a lot of hard work and perseverance to abstain from one particular thing, whatever it is. I salute you and send my Congratulations on 16 years sober ((F))((F))~

mrwunfl-

My congratulations to you on your sobriety. I wonder how many people can lay claim to 16 years of concerted effort of anything. I applaud your choices.

Rave: mrwunrful, You go guy! Congrats to you, each and every day.

Rant: The heart shattering loss for OneWanderingJew and her family. Nothing more to add to others words except for my additional condolences.

OWJ-I just read this post and all I can say is I am so sorry to hear about your baby. I know that this is such a devastating time for you and your family. Let your friends help you because the most important thing right now is to take care of yourself and your family. Although I did not light on candle on Saturday, I will light one tonight. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

mrwunrfl-Congratulations on your accomplishment of 16 years of sobriety. I applaud that you made that choice and it is a great testimony to your character that you have continued for 16 yrs.

Rave: Wow! Thanks so much to all of you for your wonderful replies!

Rave: I did take off for an overnight trip and I have to say that attending a Halloween party at a nudist resort is really a unique experience. Hilarious, naturally.

jor Oct 31st, 2004 05:09 PM

mrwunrfl, and just what may I ask do people wear at a Halloween nudist camp party? Pants?

mrwunrfl Oct 31st, 2004 05:35 PM

Some regular costumes, but generally no pants. Was surprised to see a couple of folks in whole costumes (surprised because I realized I'd never seen them with clothes on before). Some lingerie and leather (unfortunately on both genders). Body paint and a couple of people who apparently had naturally purple hair. A couple of people commented that it was a bit warm, but I pointed out that a) there were lots of people on the dance floor and b) it was unusual that they were wearing clothing (their costumes) while dancing.

Did I hear Muffin was there in her new leather or did she decide to save that for the flight to Aruba??

mrwunrfl Oct 31st, 2004 06:07 PM

Maybe, but it was impossible to hear if any of the leather was squeaky.
