I'm ranting right w/you, Marilyn and TPatricco! I was 'learning' so much about this interesting nation--and laughing too! ;-)

BuffaloGirl Oct 15th, 2004 01:38 PM

Rant: Everyone from meteorologists, to psychics, to the Farmer's Almanac are predicting an awful winter. As if every winter here isn't awful!

Rave: Tuesday is my birthday!!!!! I've survived 42 winters......what's one more???

Scarlett Oct 15th, 2004 01:48 PM

Do you think someone thought Molvania was real?

Rave: Gorgeous weather, sunshine, cool and breezy. A nice winter ahead ( maybe it will make up for the summer)
Rant: People who rant about people who post rants after the rant time is up.LOL

peeky Oct 15th, 2004 02:23 PM

RAVE OR RANT: I am going out on a blind date tonight but I don't think he is really blind, maybe nearsighted.

RAVE: I bought a really spunky outfit to wear.

RANT: That I am reduced to accepting blind dates.

atilla Oct 15th, 2004 02:33 PM

Rave:
Peeky and your honesty, it is cute! Think of it as an adventure, whether he is Prince Charming or a toad, every life experience is important.
Good Luck!

peeky Oct 15th, 2004 03:01 PM

Thanks. I know it isn't travel related, but I will let you know.

Scarlett Oct 15th, 2004 03:44 PM

peeky, you never know!
I met the Yankee while traveling, ended up staying where I met him, we have traveled ever since ((L))

shaz60 Oct 15th, 2004 04:45 PM

Rave: All are healthy today. Remembering that wonderful flutter (7x). The Patriots. The Sox will do it.
Rant: Cold and rainy. I can hear the heat grumbling. Our old-time furnace is like the one in "A Christmas Story" and probably costs us enough every year to pay for 3 or 4 trips to somewhere sunny and warm.

shaz60 Oct 15th, 2004 04:48 PM

By the way Hyacinth, I love your screen name. When my cousin was having a baby, he told everyone if it was a girl he would call her Hyacinthia. Luckily he had a boy but I still love hyacinths.

annesherrod Oct 15th, 2004 04:54 PM

Rave_ Thanks Marilyn! We had a blast when she was in St. Louis!
Also, go St. Louis Cardinals!!! We are going all the way!
Rant - None

annesherrod Oct 15th, 2004 04:56 PM

Also, Peeky - ......Go For It! Have the time fo your lfe!!!

cigalechanta Oct 15th, 2004 04:56 PM

yes, I love Mrs Bucket's name.

Yours truly,

Mrs Slocum

LoveItaly Oct 15th, 2004 09:37 PM

Rave: The terrible smoky area is finally better. Not perfect but one can breath.
Rant: My deck that was tilted and has been jiggling was finally worked on last week. But the city inspectors arrived today and did not approve the repairs, not up to city codes, so workmen are coming back next week to "try again".

OneWanderingJew Oct 15th, 2004 11:30 PM

Rave: The posters who cheer eachother on...ie Bonnie B's diet, our baby, Peeky's blind date, etc.

To Peeky: I met my husband on a blind date...I had already had a couple of lousy blind date experiences and was pretty much over the whole concept, but a coworker convinced me to go out w/him. She coincidently knew him but wasn't the 'setter-upper' and didn't even know the one who got this all started. Long story short, it was the best blind date ever! I've had friends meet their significant others this way too, so sometimes it can work out...And think of it this way, if the date isn't what you wanted, than you looked cute and now have another great outfit!

dcespedes Oct 16th, 2004 04:40 AM

Peeky, my curiosity is peaked--pun intended :-) How did the date go?!? "trip" report, please :-D

annesherrod Oct 16th, 2004 07:13 AM

Yes, we are waiting for the details. Hope you had a fantastic evening...
Anne

Marilyn Oct 16th, 2004 08:39 AM

Maybe Peeky's evening is still going on...

Hey Anne, what happened to the hedgehog?
((M)) (as close as I can get)

dcespedes Oct 16th, 2004 09:03 AM

Marilyn, you're right--I've been married so long I forgot! :-)

annesherrod Oct 16th, 2004 10:49 AM

Marilyn,
the next day the hedgehog was transferred to a more hospitable environment. A warm one with lots of Love!!
Also, some big wigs were in town and he could not be seen in the Marketing Directors office!!
A

Marilyn Oct 16th, 2004 11:06 AM

Anne, I am so relieved. Thanks!

Scarlett Oct 16th, 2004 01:11 PM

Rave:
today was Dog-tober Fest in the DogWood Park in Jax Florida ((&))

Hard not to sit down in the grass and laugh until you are weak, never have I seen so many dogs, dressed in so many amusing costumes ..
We did not know in advance, so Pup just had a bandana on, but I think the best prize went to the Rottweiler with the pink tutu and the jack russel wearing the little bumble bee shirt with antennae..LOL
This entire thing is thanks to a lady that owns all this land and instead of selling it or it being used for parking or whatever, she put park benches in, water fountains ( for dogs only) a lake (for dogs only) and a clean woodland with trails.
So my Rave is about people doing things for the animals and their humans once in a while :D

cigalechanta Oct 16th, 2004 01:39 PM

AWWWwwww!!!!! I wish I had been there. (We have something like that here every year on the Boston Common)
Have you seen the magazine called "Dogue" a takeoff on Vogue. I boughta copy for a gift. I wish I had bought two. But I prefer my own dog au natural :)

shaz60 Oct 16th, 2004 02:29 PM

I'm sure the dogs looked as embarassed as they must have felt. Considering they roll around in the dirt after being groomed, I am certain they don't want to wear a tutu.

Scarlett Oct 16th, 2004 03:28 PM

shaz, I didn't notice any embarrassed dogs, but I did see one that stood and barked and barked right in the face of a big old labrador with little devils horns on his head.
Dogs rarely get embarrassed is my feeling, if I laugh at my Pup, he gets all happy, he knows laughter is a good thing :D
Although he never looked that happy after a disastrous grooming once upon a time. ((&))

cigalechanta Oct 16th, 2004 03:35 PM

yes, scarlett my dog looks happy when I laugh with him over something he's done that's funny, his tail wags, but he does get embarrassed when he pees, due to his alzheimer's and will stand in a corner, but I clean up after him and pat him and tell him I understand and that tail starts wagging again. The day is suddenly brighter.

shaz60 Oct 16th, 2004 03:42 PM

My sweet boy looks embarassed about a quarter of the time. A quarter he looks pensive or sad. The remainder he looks happy and goofy. Nobody loves him more than I do but if he was dressed he would simply look ridiculous.

Scarlett Oct 16th, 2004 03:56 PM

Yes, Mimi, you are right, they do look sad/embarrassed when they make a mistake.
shaz, now you have to tell us what kind of dog you have :D

shaz60 Oct 16th, 2004 04:07 PM

I am always happy to talk about my dog. He is a black flat coat lab that I got from a rescue leagud. Flat coats have long hair and fluffy tails and his ears look liked they've been crimped. He also has black spots on his tongue. I didn't know any of this when I got him. We were camping one summer and the camper across said "I love your flat coat". I kind of thought he was talking about my husband. He told me about the breed and said that I had a purebred. He is still by parts infuriating, joyful, well behaved, smelly, and one of my best friends.

Scarlett Oct 16th, 2004 04:14 PM

I know just what you mean about being your best friend :)
The dog with the devils horns on his head was a black lab .. lol..they are so sweet. You would have enjoyed this park with your pup, the lake was full of labs and golden retrievers ((&))

cigalechanta Oct 16th, 2004 04:21 PM

Hi folks, welcome to tweeky Dogday Saturday banter, please join in ((&))

:)

shaz60 Oct 16th, 2004 04:26 PM

I'm sorry. I swore that I would never be one of those dog people. I can discuss politics, education, Yankees v. Red Sox, places I've been, or my wonderful dog. Just let me know.

cigalechanta Oct 16th, 2004 04:29 PM

Shaz, I was joking.Husband now watching the redsox and going to be in a bad mood, they're not doing well.

shaz60 Oct 16th, 2004 04:36 PM

Dear cigalechanta-

I'm also watching the Red Sox. AAArgh!
By the way how did you choose your name? Very interesting. I didn't think you were serious but you never know.

cigalechanta Oct 16th, 2004 05:02 PM

My name=I love provence, the cigale is a symbol of the place, you'll see embroidery, ceramics, fabrics with these cicadas who sing in the hot day summer sun, so I'm the singing cicada.
and a big fan of JH Fabre, The insect man" whose home/museum I visited outside of Orange.

Clifton Oct 16th, 2004 07:10 PM

Team Rave: Cardinals, Cardinals

Personal Rave: Won't be around to read the next few FF's. Off to Hungary and Romania in 3 days. Thought it would never get here.

Weather rave: The grey skies and rain are gone here in Memphis and we've got nice crisp air. Perfect for a fire and rugging up before we go.

Minor Rant: Yard signs. Like I'm going to decide anything based on what the guy down the street sticks in his yard.

Budman Oct 16th, 2004 07:14 PM

Clifton, are those signs the ones leading you to the best Memphis BBQ places? Everytime someone mentions Memphis, my mouth starts to water. ((a)) ((b))

Jocelyn_P Oct 16th, 2004 07:15 PM

Clifton: rugging up? Does that mean what I think it means? :))

cigalechanta Oct 16th, 2004 07:18 PM

Clifton, have a wonderful time and I hope you will post your adventures when you return.

Clifton Oct 16th, 2004 07:26 PM

Budman, trust me and my waistline on this... I KNOW where the best BBQ places are. :D Man, I'm spoiled for meaty choices around here.

Jocelyn, ah now... where's that mind of yours off to? Well, that sort of fits in with the roaring fire plan. Mine was an Aussie-ism (she's rubbing off on me!) for bundling up. I like your version better!

Thanks Cigale. I've got a little journal book as a gift. I'll put it to good use and share some things from it when we get back.

peeky Oct 16th, 2004 09:50 PM

Hi. Well....the date was a rant and a rave too. The fixer-upper insisted on coming along "to make us feel more comfortable" and proceeded to talk about herself all night. She tried to top everything I said and laughed herself silly at everything he said and she is married! I was starting to glaze over and he was looking at his watch so I ended the evening mercifully. He took my email and cell number so we'll see, he seems like a nice fellow I guess, but I think he could have controlled the evening a little more.

Thanks for asking!
