Rave: 20 more days before Hawaii vacation.
Rant: Only 20 more days to acquire fabulous body for Hawaii vacation! Rave: Husband laying sod in the backyard of our house today. How exciting to have grass rather than weeds, dirt, rocks, etc. Rave: Celebrating my second Mother's Day as a mom this weekend. It sure makes me appreciate my own mother! |
Rave: Had a great time at the Iberostar resort we visited with another family 4/24 - 5/1 in Mexico. All kids got along, great weather.
Rant: I came home with e-coli bacteria and have been in hospital 2ce this week for iv treatments. 6 days later after first symptoms, I am showing signs of normalcy again! Rave: Friend put the photos on DVD with music, so vacation memories will be salvaged and perhaps I'll remember the fun and forget the illness...eventually! Rave: Will enjoy and appreciate Mothers Day with my kids and mother in law, with love to my mom in FL. |
hey fodorites!
rave: training for new position is over. going well. =D> rave: a weekend with my guy. can't wait. >:D< rave: mothers day. my mom's first without her mother. everyone should be as lucky to have a mother like mine. so much more than a mother. \:D/ rant: really burnt out this week! :-( rant: rants and raves deletions? take it somewhere else bullies! :D |
Rave: Heading home after five days in Pittsburgh on business!
Rant: Five days away from home in Pittsburgh. Not the best nightlife.... Rave: jorr getting a FFRR running! Rant: Posters who get all bitter and bitchy when other posters don't agree with their wacko viewpoints. Rave: I start planning a Vegas weekend for my honey's birthday! Rant: ... In mid-August. Sizzle and fry!! Rave: People who only have love and acceptance in their heart. Rant: The hate-filled jerks who manage to screw up the world. And they seem to be everywhere...! Rave: The loving people will win out eventually. Have a wonderful weekend! :) |
I have seen a few mothers day cartoons in magazines. But the best mothers day/fathers day cartoons (or the funniest cartoon I have recently seen) was a cartoon on fathers day a few years ago.
It depicted litle kids giving a fathers day gift to their father. The mother was trying to grab the gift from him an was shouting. GIVE ME THAT. I'VE BEEN BOTH A FATHER AND A MOTHER TO THESE KIDS. Happy Mother's Day! |
RAVE: My Carolina Panthers have a new fan in Bamakelly! :-) Most important facts about our team, Bamakelly - - - (1) QB Jake Delhomme is such a hottie!!! :p (2) Our uniforms are the prettiest in the NFL... turquoise & black! We have a great website ... carolinapanthers.com for all the hard facts and less important details. :-d (We had a real bad start last season, due to a slew of injuries, but started kicking butt the second half of the season! Go Panthers!!!)
RAVE: It's raining, slowly and steadily, here in Raleigh for about the last 24 hours but it's okay...we NEED it! Keeps my yard and neighborhood beautiful... (so don't complain, fellow Triangle-ites on here. Makes us real pretty here.......) RAVE: Raleigh-Durham has just been named the #2 best spot in the country to live and work, according to Forbes Magazine!!!!! YES!!!! Ya'll come on down, and see what the fuss is all about, have some sweet tea and pork BBQ with us! :-) (And get yourself a UNC 2005 basketball championship tee... okay, I promise not to mention it again! :p ) RAVE: I have had the most wonderful mother a person could have in my life for almost 61 years. She is almost 91, and although Alzheimers started stealing her from me about seven years ago, I am so grateful to see her beautiful blue eyes twinkle at me on certain precious days, letting me know that she is still reaching out to me with love, though she cannot remember my name. She has always been my hero..... ((L)) @};- RAVE: Received beautiful Mother's Day flowers from my son yesterday and am enjoying them already. Happy Mother's Day to all my good friends here in Fodorville. Hope your Sunday will be beautiful... ((f)) |
Rave: Ok, I admit that I find some sordid tales, like what's being tossed around about the runaway Bride, occassionally interesting. I guess my fascination is the same as when a person goes to a car race just to see the wrecks. I'd rather not think about what that says about my need to occassionally feel superior.
Rant: Another Saturday, another Saturday with rain here in the NYC area. One of these days I'll get to see my son play soccer. Rave: My toddlers are adjusting fine to our new home. Rant: I'm now at 5:00 a.m.! I don't own a farm, I'm not in the service. There is something not right about waking up at 5:00 a.m. every morning. Opinion: If you're considering a trip to Bali, I'd strongly suggest you read about the Schapelle Corby trial. To face life in prison where the only evidence being weighed by the court is "it's your bag, with your name on it" to the exclusion of most of the other facts saying the drugs in the bag were planted - means the risk is far too high for any tourist to face. |
bonniebroad: Jake Delhomme - what a cutie! He is from Breaux Bridge, LA, a town about 20 minutes from where I live. Everyone here LOVES him. His uncle used to work with me and you couldn't have a "work" discussion until you talked about Jake! Rave: FRI-DAY! Beautiful weather. Sunny & 80's this weekend. Rant: BF has work to do this weekend and a customer from Guyana in town all next week. Rave/Rant: Having a wonderful role model in my mom, but her living in NC - too far away! Rant: Best friends 2-yr old grand-nephew is having a tumor and his eye removed today. I'm sure the docs at Tulane will do their best. Rave: Crawfish Festival this weekend - maybe I'll check it out. Hmmm... wonder if Jake D. will be in town for that? :S- |
Bennie--so glad you got to see at least a little of the fun stuff while you wre in B'ham! The Summir has probably doubled in size since you've been there! Congrats to your niece and best of luck for the new baby-to-be!
Bonniebroad...thanks for the details! I'll have to look at the website. We might try to go to a game. I'll let you know. He was on the state championship team for our high school (where I taught him) and then he played at my alma mater. Would be fun to see him playing PRO! happy weekend everyone. |
RYAN: Are you up deliberately at 5am for your new commute or are the birds waking you up? :D Maybe you miss the city noise!
By the way, do you know of any 3 bedroom apartments available in Hoboken? My son and his roommates are ready to commit for the first of July (June if absolutely necessary). Slim pickins right now. Hoping that once school is out apartments will open up. |
I've been up at 05:00 - 06:00 my entire life since age 21 when I drove a school bus for Riverdale Country Day and spent my last two undergrad years nearby.
Having been in medicine since, my bio clock has been long set. I occasionally sleep til 07:30 in MX. M |
Mike: My DH wakes up between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. for as long as I've known him. He's actually happy in the morning. I get up early too around 6:00 a.m but I'm not happy -- in other words, don't talk to me! Sleeping in would be waking up at 7:30 :(
And to think as a teen my mother would have to pour ice cubes on me at around noon to get me out of bed, lol. |
Seetheworld,
Yes, my workday starts at 7:25. So, in order to make it in I'm now on a 6:00 a.m. train. As my colleagues have said, there is absolutely no reason to do this commute - but for the kids. After a week, I completely agree. In terms of Hoboken, they should check with a company called the Applied Companies. They own several of the larger buildings in town and can at least direct them to the right leasing office for each property. They have several buildings on the water, both uptown and downtown. There are also several new buildings in the final stages of construction back around Willow and 12th. You might check to see if they've started leasing yet. The other option is to check with a realtor that has apartments for sale. Presumably if someone is buying and moving in - they've ended a lease and moved out. Don't know how much better it'll get when school gets out as you have to factor in the influx from recent college grads. |
Rant: Since I got up late and was late to work, I have to make up an extra half-hour on a Friday. I am truly a lazy slug, and I hate that part of me.
Rave: It's a beautiful day and I'm in good health. |
Didn't get a chance to read everyone's FFR&R so if I repeat, please excuse me. Happy Mother's Day to all our own Fodorites. Especially to my own mother, mother-in-law, and the mother of my three WONDERFUL stepchildren. God Bless You All! Rant: To the dickhead who gave my best friend such a hard time when she resigned from a position that was not suited for her, up yours. Rave: The many wonderful things and people in my life. I hope everyone who is in the middle of any sort of sorrow is able to find comfort in their loved ones and their surroundings. |
Rave: Spent a beautiful day in Bass Lake last weekend. The lake is full and the boats are all starting to come out of hibernation! We had a very nice lunch at the Bar & Grill there. :)
Rave: We took some of our Syrah to the Elderberry House in Oakhurst. The sommelier there really liked it and said it was "very good." We were pleased with his evaluation. We also tasted four wines there that he had out, all very good. DH wants to take a cooking class there this month. :) Rave: DS is off to Toronto with a friend for the week next week. He is also going to Oahu next month for 10 days with his girlfriend. They are excited! :) Rave: DD now has her permit to drive. Our last one to get a driver's license. I'm sure she will do fine. :) Rave: Mother's Day! We will go to church with our entire family, then go to see a play, "Hello Dolly" and finish the day with a BBQ at my brother's house. They have six great children so she is a very busy and wonderful mother! Rave: More rain here. More snow in the mountains. Happy weekend, Happy Mother's Day to all! ((f)) ((l)) ***kim*** |
I am SO Happy for mms and son!!!!
GoTravel, how nice that you send such good wishes to the mother of your step children:D Ryan , my husband laughed at you and mikemo waking early, regardless of having to be up that early- count him in with that group..he said Habits of a Lifetime~ Rant: the occassional bully and all round creep that pops up from time to time with no normal postings of information or help, but feels a need to make himself feel Big by attacking others. Poor little man. |
Hi Ryan. I think my husband has been talking with Applied Companies. We are also getting emails from Rent.com. I'll have him check out the availability of those new buildings.
You make a good point -- hopefully not too many grads are looking for a 3 bedroom but who am I kidding. I think the one advantage they have is that together they are able to meet the higher rental price points. One of the managing agents did say that 3 bedrooms are rare. We'll have to see what happens. Here's hoping for some sunshine this weekend... |
rave: going to visit my mom this weekend, and the weather in the Berkshires is supposed to be nicer than here
rave: Sox won last night, Celtics won last night, had fun talking baseball with the Fodorites today! rant: vacation is too far away...no trip til August :-( |
Rave: My long awaited medical tests came back negative!
Rave: Husband's car passed inspection - thanks to a savy mechanic who didn't charge us a dime Rave: Boss configured a new job for me so I could work part time and be home 2.5 days with my baby Rave: Spending Mother's Day with my wonderful mother and daughter Life is good. |
