No, I hit the top of my foot, when I kicked, my foot swung UP and hit the drawer knob.
It is bruised but in Technicolor ((R)) |
Thank you 'seetheworld', 'scarlett' and 'gotravel' for your welcome!
Most kind. Hope everyone has a nice weekend! :) T. |
Rave: Everything on my "mental to do list" got done this week. Great way to start the weekend.
Rant: Still have tons of laundry to do tomorrow. Everyone should have such problems, life is good when it is only the laundry that is bugging you. Rave: Grandson got a job this week and loves it! He is also in love with a beautiful young lady who is studying to be a nurse. Rant: Lost a very important piece of paper. How did that happen? Life's little irritations. I too welcome Tiff and Birgator to Fodor's. As the navy would say "welcome aboard". And to all of you with sore feet, hot flashes etc. I hope you all will feel better soon. And jorr, your dog is just bringing you presents! He loves you, LOL. May everyone's dreams come true. May all your travels be safe and beautiful. May this weekend be full of good weather and happy hours. |
LoveItaly, you are so cute with your little 'welcome aboard', thanks!
And to Jorr: LoveItaly is right, the reason your little boy keeps bringing these "presents" to you is because he loves you, he is trying to say "Hey! Look what I got for ya!" Seriously, I have read about these things. You must convince him you'd prefer wine or a first class ticket somewhere! ((&)) |
WOW! So much going on with this group...I too have never posted on Freaky Friday Rants and Raves but here goes...
RAVES to all of you for your weight losses. You are inspiring. RANTS to the weather in Boston. Rain, rain and more rain...no warmth this spring. My deck is screaming for flowers and sun. RAVES to my MOM who turns 80 tomorrow. Big Bash planned for her with all her relatives (and my Dad's - he is 82). RANTS Sorry for the loss of parents and in-laws that I read about on this thread. I am grateful every day that my parents are still with me and well. I can't imagine your pain. RAVES I am going to see Star Wars this week. RANTS My 6 year old grandson has strep throat. RAVES I am thrilled to have found such a great group of people on this board! Have a wonderful Saturday and Sunday and if you live in Boston, just face the sky and let the rain light up your life! CHOW...NannyJan |
Rant: I was too busy to check emails or fodors the last couple of days.
Rave: We're busy getting ready to move into our new house next Friday--our first major purchase together in almost one year of marriage. Rave: School's out and only two more days of post-planning! Rave: One of my toughest kids this year came to say good-bye and told me through her tears how much I helped her this year. This is a kid who doesn't show any emotion unless it's anger. I will continue to worry about her but it feels so good to know I made a teeny difference. Rave: Bonnie, my dieting inspiration! Rant: Boo boo toes. Ooouchy ooowie! Rant: Bennnie and Budman's tough times. (And anyone else I forgot) Wishing everyone everywhere sunshine, happinesss and time spent with the special people in your lives. |
Did I say Budman?? Ooh, don't want to start any rumors. I meant Kal and Mrs. Kal!!

St Joe goes in the ground today! Happy Weekend! |
jorr, don't let your dog kiss ya. ;-)
Rave: My Mother would have been 78 on the same day as your Mother's birthday, Nannymer. It makes me feel good to hear of people who enjoy their parents while they're around. Please wish her a Happy Birthday for me. ((G)) Rant: Sick of this dreary weather. Enough already. |
Thx guys. Yah deal, yah get by.
Could you imagine a life without any pain? **LOL** Still a GREAT life! >:D< OWJ, I think after 2night's NY/NJ GTG B'man WILL need need your kind thoughts as he will be going thru a ruff time Sunday a.m.!b( |
buckeyemom, we sold our house a few years ago and after we finished the remodeling, we got 5 offers in one day!! Of course we took the highest one from a guy named Fred, and turned away the other 4. After that Fred kept jerking us around and trying to change the rules, then after the deadline passed to back out, he backed out. We considered legal action, as we had held the house off the market during this time, but like you, we were told it's not worth it. During this time we nicknamed him "Drop Dead Fred."
As for broken toes, been there, done that. I was in the shower one night and dropped a full bottle of shampoo from a high shelf onto my middle toe. The sharp end of the lid landed squarely on my toe and it hurt like crazy. I had shampoo in my eyes, but I felt the impact and heard the bone crack. When I wiped the shampoo out of my eyes, all I saw was blood going down the drain. It reminded me of the scene in "Psycho," with all that blood in the shower. (OK, maybe not quite that bad) Anyway, I screamed and DH helped me out of the shower and onto the floor, and got me an ice pack and ibuprophen. I called the hospital, but there was nothing they could do, so I had to tough it out. :-(( I sympathize with you on both of these issues, buckeyemom. |
Thanks P M, we stopped showing our house also and had the closing all set up. It irritates the heck out of me that people don't honor a contract. One consolation the realtor he was using said, "he's flaky and they dropped him as a client."
cd/bennie-Went out and buried St. Joseph upside down in the back yard. Hope I remember where I put him. :-) Hobbling around on the toe and making the best of the situation. Thanks everyone for your kind words. Welcome to the newcomers and Go hope you did well in your race. |
Oh wow that St. Joseph thing is intriquing indeed.
Please tell me where it is in the Bible so I can research it myself. (we may be selling our house, too) Thank you. |
Rant- My house & my parents' truck (they were visiting from out of state for my son's band concert) were egged last Saturday night.
Rave- Only 4 more days of school left! Rant- Sunday morning the master bath started leaking into the guest bedroom downstairs and I have 6 house guests coming next weekend. Rave- Only 4 more days of school left! Rant- The little jackass that egged the house is threatening to have others repeat the process so I had to involve the police. Rave- Only 4 more days... Rant- I'm going to miss the 3rd grade students after being their Physical Education teacher for four years. Rave- Did I mention how many days of school are left for the year? |
GoTravel, thank you for your kind words and confidence but me in a bikini??? =-o I don't think we'd want to go there, REALLY!!! :p
Welcome, Tiff, birgator and Nannymer...... ((f)) You won't find a kinder, funnier, more supportive group than this one........ Hope you'll be with us for a long time here.......... :-) Hope you're all having a fine Saturday. We spent the day at the Yadkin Valley Wine Festival, and what a gorgeous day it was! 72 degrees, sunny, slight breeze............. ah, bliss! ;;) |
LIVE FROM BOSTON....
Rant: RAIN! I can't find a poncho anywhere in Boston, lol! And it's cold too! Rant: Nothing packed in my son's dorm room -- looks like he's staying for another 4 years :D :D :D |
I looked up ST Joseph. Not being Catholic, I was unaware that Joseph (father of Jesus) was considered to be the patron saint of real estate..
It seems that even real estate agents will tell people to bury one upside down in the yard facing the street to sell their house. It is also on an Urban legend site :) Listen, whatever works! Tomorrow we find St Joe, but, do I dig him up afterwards? Do I put him rightside up in the garden? I hate the idea of leaving a little St statue upside down in the ground~ |
Miz Scarlett-Top of the evening to you and Pup. I am going to dig my St. Joseph up when I CLOSE the house. After having someone back out of a contract, he stays put until I close! FYI, St. Joseph is also the patron saint of workers (because he was a carpenter) and fathers....
|
((&))((F))((L)) buckeyemom, how is your toe?
|
Borealis,
I missed your post on my first reading today, I want to tell you how glad I am for you and your family that your BIL is alright. That must have been so terrible for you all until you knew where he was. Big hugs! oh and enjoy the gardening. Here in Florida, my garden looks like a NY garden does in July and I have over a dozen tomatoes turning red ! ((F)) Scarlett |
I'm not Catholic either but would still like to find more information re this Saint.
So where exactly in the Bible did Jesus or the Disciples deem him this real estate power? (didn't realize realty existed back then) Or is this a superstition that gained strength? And I'm seriously interested as we've not had great success selling homes and another one looks to be in our future. Thanks. |
Wanderluster (and Scarlett): I am not Catholic either, but when I had a hard time selling a hosue a fe years ago, my real estate agent told me about St Joseph. I buried him, upside down, facing the house (he actually came with directions) and I got an offer on my house within a week. It was the first and only offer I got in 7 months.
I left St Joe buried there, hoping he'd be a token of faith and love to the new family moving in. :) Like you said, hey, whatever works! |
The Today show is about to air a segment on the "Go-To Saint for house seller"! :-)
|
Go the answer for you, Scarlett.
You are supposed to dig him up and he is to have a prominant place in the new house. You already know he is to be buried upside down, with feet pointing to heaven, BUT his face should face the street. There was also a little prayer to read in the St. Joe kit they showed on the segment. |
Thank you again!
We have houselookers coming starting at 11:00 so fingers crossed! Have a good Sunday! ((F)) |
Scarlett:
Don't leave him in the ground. We have him on my husbands dresser right beside a picture of one of the boats he sold! :-) By the way, we are not Catholic either, but hey, we all learn from each other. |
Wanderluster
You're not going to find St Joe Patron Saint of Real Estate in the bible. However, you're not going to find "Trinity" or other doctrines of todays church in the Bible either. These were interpretations of the patristic fathers. |
Actually, the doctrine of the Trinity is in the Bible, just not named as such. A timely comment as today is Trinity Sunday in the liturgy. Check out Matt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14; and Gen 1:1-3 (altho you really have to go back to the root words here to get the full concept of the three-in-one).
Don't know about St Joseph. |
Miz Scarlett-I got all gussied up and wore my manolo blahniks to our mother/daugther tea and gingerly walked into the tea room. Toe ached like crazy, but hey the things we do for fashion! Tea was a blast, they had dress up clothes with hats for the girls and painted their nails. We had scones, finger sandwiches and assorted sweets. Wonderful tea. Great time!
I think the St. Joseph and real estate is one of those things that just picked up steam. Here is a url for everything you ever wanted to know about St. Joseph..http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=4 And, yes, whatever works. :-) |
