hey bonniebroad, I'm a twin separated by years too! My brother was born in '52 at 2 am, I was the same day in '55 at 5 am! he never forgave me for delaying his 3rd birthday party!

Rant: Both daughters have school, work and dance committments that overlap and take up all summer. No family trip!

Rave: WE took lots of exotic trips every summer and winter till now.

Rave: The girls are old enough and good enough to leave home alone for a few days and fares to Japan are cheap! Do I want to brave the humidity for a romantic weekend there??? Hmmmmm

Rave: It's finally summer in NJ! Hot & humid enough to enjoy the beach!
Rant: The water is way chillier here than it was in St. John a couple weeks ago!

Cassidy...I sympathize about the house ranking higher than vacations in the budget! It's happening to me too!

Rant - Hot and humid here in DC as well. Yuck. Feels like August already.

Rave - I think I may be able to go away to Ocean City next week for a few days with friends renting a house.

Rant - There's a chance I won't be able to get out of work for the OC trip...

Rave: I've set my retirement date and, as fast as time is flying, it'll be here in a flash! Hooray!!

Rant: Because of all the rain we've had here in mid-Michigan, I feel like I spend all my free time cutting grass.

Rave: Going up to northern MI tomorrow to see daughter's new home and take the grandkids to Mackinac Island for the Lilac Festival parade on Sunday.

Rant: No big travel plans scheduled for the rest of the year yet, but...

Rave: I WILL have a trip in the planning stages before the summer is over!

jor: No I didn't see your comments, but thanks for the support. This thread is still open for posting today, and that's a good sign, unlike last week. I think the poster is a great contributor to this board and wish him/her much peace in their travels. The only issue I had was being put down and shut out for something that a poster does themselves. I think I overreacted, but having Freaky Friday shut down was just too much. It's such a harmless positive thing. And look how much travel-related stuff is happening here.

Rave: is Efudex. I am peeled and healed. What I didn't anticipate was that the medicine that ate me up and created the gawd-awful scabbing/raw skin last week, brought up new, relatively unlined skin, soft and smooth. I had a dermatologist appt this AM and he remarked about that wonderful side effect, (why didn't he tell me before, I'd have stuck with it even longer?) then warned me about the sun and making a mess all over again. He didn't need to say it twice. Here's to MUCH improved skin!! ((D)) Here's to Efudex ((D)) ((D))

Rave: kaudrey is on the mend and GoTravel's step daughter is too. Different body parts, but they all ache when hurt.

Rant: DH has been in Miami all week on business, and will be in Chicago next week. Little sleep here without him. Cat, who sleeps between us can't figure out where to go when one of us is missing so she stands on our backs instead. :( And cries.

Rave-Finally a rain free weekend is forecast!!! Rant-It's going to take us 4 hours to get to Michigan tonight when it should only take us 2! I hate summer traffic!

Bad week for us.

Rant: FIL had a stroke.
Rave: Luckily, they got him to the hospital in time. Could have been a lot worse.
Rant: He has 2 neck arteries 90% blocked so he has to have surgery in a couple of weeks. They want to get him stable.
Rave: What a sweet guy my FIL is. He is joking with the nurses and has the best attitude!

So glad we all will have your continued travel wisdom to draw upon now that Freaky Friday has been restored. You had me so worried last week that you were going to take your toys and leave if Fodors didn't restore justice! Sounds like you're giddy now that the coffee clatch is up and rolling again.

Rave: It's gorgeous on the Oregon Coast and I love being in Astoria for a couple of weeks.

Rant: Hubby and sons are working 12 hr days and I only get to see them a little bit each night.

Rave: The weekends, he gets off so we are going to do a show in St. Helens, then head over to Porltand to pick out our granite. Dinner at clarklewis tomorrow and The Sanctuary in Chinook WA tonight!

Rant: Oldest son misses his GF so much! Is jealous his brother's GF gets to be here.

Rave: She will be coming over in a few weeks for 10 days!!

Rant: Can't think of any, I'm in one of my favorite places right now soaking in the beauty of the Oregon Coast and this delightful little place!!

Happy, Happy Father's Day to all the great dads out there! We're taking our guy out to some great place on the coast, then to the beach for a day of sun and fun!! Kids got him a crab trap so he can catch crabs next week while he works and check the trap at the end of the day!! ***kim*** :)

My "travel related" rant. Lost my fav shades, my Maui Jims purchased duty free last yr. in St. Thomas. Now I need to get another pain before our trip to Hawaii this tr.
