I have a cold so I'm feeling more rantish today than usual. Add in the start of pollen season, and I don't feel to good. :(

Rave: Go Tar Heels

OO Apr 1st, 2005 07:21 AM

Run GT, Run! :D Good luck...hope you have nice cool weather for the run.

Rant: Sitting at home waiting for my new Maytag delivery...when?? Further rant, this machine is to replace the brand new one delivered last week which was DOA! Maytag?!

Rave: Blue skies, fair winds (nearly gale force!), and a house that is beginning to take shape.

Rant: Moving is the pits. I'm not doing it again (hear that Hyatt LOL)?

Rave: That you can at least take your internet friends right along with you.

Rant: The Terri Circus. For those standing behind Michael...I wish you had been privy to Tampa's TV coverage for the last umpteen years since the first attempt at removing her feeding tube! He is not a kind and gentle man, with his dear wife's wishes first and foremost in his heart!

ahnold - here in Mass we have experienced tremendous appreciation on the value of our homes. Some towns experience higher rates of appreciation because they are percieved to have excellent school sytems. So if you were lucky enough to pay $50,000 for a house that is now worth $500,000, don't you think you can afford a slight tax increase to protect that investment. Generally we are talking about 2 1/2 overrides of less than $200 - the price of a decent meal for a family of four. In our school system we need the override not to hire more teachers, not to buy more books or computers but rather to pay for heating oil. And a tax increase would be unnecessary but the town wants to buy the DPW a new truck. Yeah we value education....

Rave:a gathering of great friends at our house last Sunday. The meal, the company and the evening were all wonderful!

Rave:Spring is making the garden burst forth. We are out in it more and therefore meeting new folks all the time.

Rave: our neighborhood egg hunt last Sunday. We got to watch tiny ones pick up candy and hand it off and school age kids "hunt" like pros. It was another opportunity to meet some more neighbors.

Rant:The Culture of Life!(such a misnomer)

mms: Thank you for the Zicam recommendation! It did the trick and I am now using the allergy relief which also works well :-)

Rave: Today is DH 43rd birthday and he is flying home from Harlingen, TX as I type ((^))

Rant/Rave: Cancelled trip to South Padre this weekend as DH decided he did not want to be gone three weekends in a row. Sorry Seamus, looks as though we could have made the GTG after all!

Rave: Enjoyed a great visit with my brother and his family but the week went by way too quickly!

Rave: Leaving for Naples, FL this Thursday; will be in Houston the following weekend; and we are definitely going to Alaska for 10 days in June!

Will it ever stop raining in NJ?

Rant: Spring is here! Too bad so far it = tons of rainy weather & tree pollen making my allergies go crazy. I have been suffering all week! Meds haven't quite kicked in yet.

Rave: Had a fun time at the NY Auto Show last night...checked out lotsa cool rides. I think I need a sugar daddy to buy me a shiny new Ferrari F430! :D Vroom! Vroom!

Rave: Have been keeping up with exercise routine despite feeling lousy. Can feel the improvement in how my clothes fit! :)

Rants All Around Today!

--My baby girl turned 13 today--two teens in the house now :-)
--we're off to her dance competition in Denver at noon
--Compared to Tues., when our area had both a tornado AND snow, the temps are back in the 60's and gorgeous
--Am still doing Weight Watchers and am close to goal, but oh, those last few pounds are tough!

Have a great weekend, everyone

And Big Rave--we get to keep their little son (2 years old) for the weekend! We're having such fun, especially since last night's storms have moved east.

Forgot a rant... yesterday, I had to remove a dead opossum from the lattice skirting our deck...with DH away for the night I was hoping it was just sleepy so I wouldn't have to deal with it but, alas, it was unresponsive to my voice (a sure sign something is dead. What fascinating creatures they are--never saw one so up close before. He is buried, RIP, in the back yard ((f))

Dan Apr 1st, 2005 08:42 AM

Two Raves: I'm in the final days of a 3 week trip, presently in Portland Oregon.

Have gotten some in some great meals, shopping and quality time with friends and family here. Daughter's college luau is on Saturday.

One Rant: That the weather has been wet and cold everywhere! I've worn my coat so much that I had to buy a new one yesterday!

bonniebroad Apr 1st, 2005 08:50 AM

RAVE: It's April! I love Spring... :-)

RAVE: Go, North Carolina Tar Heels!!! DO IT THIS YEAR!!! :-d Go, Louisville.... please beat Illinois, making it a little easier for the Tar Heels!!!

RAVE: Tpatricco & Tess, good going, girls! Keep up your healthy programs...

RANT: Weight plateaus... SCREAM! :-(

OO, I felt sorry for Michael Schiavo at one time, but some of the things I've heard lately have given me pause. What a sad situation! :-( I feel so sorry for her family, although I don't know enough about the situation to really comment on it.

Everybody, have a great weekend. Hope all my fellow Fodorites who feel down or unwell will be feeling better soon!

Contgratulations, Dan.

That was exactly the same weight as my first son, born 37 years ago this fall- and his name is Dan also. And he is 6 foot 5 inches tall in the present, and has been since eighth grade, and almost always on the thin side. I'm 5 foot 1 inches on a good day.

Plan on looking up and enjoying him tremendously. Long Life and Happiness to your new family.

BuffaloGirl Apr 1st, 2005 08:52 AM

Rant: Illness of any kind!

Rave: Me, hubby, and son are all healthy - so far!

Rant: Trying to sell several things on e-bay, sell nothing, and having to pay for all the listing. In other words, I lost $$$ trying to make $$$. I should have just gone go Niagara Falls and thrown a few bucks in the casinos!!!

Rave: Selling things on e-bay and making money!

Rant: 5 weeks until we hit the beach in Florida.

Rave: We have an overnighter planned in Niagara Falls before then. We'll have dinner and check out the new casino. It's something to do to break up the time!

Have a great weekend everyone!
