YAAAAYY for ncgrrl!! You must be so relieved. This makes my day. :-)

buckeyemom Sep 12th, 2005 07:52 AM

Good news ncgrl!

Meesthare-Have you thought about stained glass windows? I saw a bathroom makeover on HGTV that incorporated them.

CAPH52 Sep 12th, 2005 08:03 AM

So glad to hear your good news, ncgrrl! Thanks for letting us know.

P_M Sep 12th, 2005 08:33 AM

Hey, buckeyemom, I was thinking of you during the game the other night. I hope you can still be cyber-pals with a Longhorn fan. >:D<

Speaking of doors: our front door is a carved oak victorian door with a lovely laurel leaf crest. We replaced the old glass (and the tourquoise miniblinds that decorated it when we bought the house) with textured "flemish" glass. It looks GREAT.

Bathrooms~I thought we had the smallest one in the world@ 50 sq feet but at least you can sit yourself down on the throne without a worry about "foot traffic".

And the Doors..here's how old we must be. On our first trip to Paris in 98 we hit Pere Lachaise and wandered about for hours in a light rain. We never did stumble upon Jim Morrison's grave nor did we even search for it I realize in retrospect. We were more taken with the grave os Oscar Wilde and Edith Piaf. The monuments to the camps and the resistance also occupied our hearts and minds for hours(and years).

BTW~we visited with (cooked for) an old co-worker last evening who has been widowed since early June. Oh the sorrow. It is so palpable. Draw your loved ones near and tell them how you adore them. I am happy to report she stayed for 4.5 hours and we drank some great Murphy Goode Pinot Noir. And, just in case anyone is looking for a Fall dessert: organic figs from the Farmers Market with a slice of Bellweather Farms fresh ricotta cheese drizzled with white truffle honey. SUBLIME!!

Back to the grind everyone..roll that rock back up the hill. Here's hoping the affiliated hospital workers at my
work place do not strike tomorrow @ 6 am.
And I never ever thought I'd ever say this but "May the South Rise Again".

Yea!!!!! NYGirl! So glad to hear your good news!
About your door, this is what I would do, and being a non-mechcanial woman it is probably all wrong AND my husband would probaly laugh at me, but it is still what I would do. I would put"Goo be Gone" all around the installation. It has taken off much sticky stuff for me over the years. That, WD40, and duct tape are my only tools.

cd Sep 12th, 2005 09:21 AM

Yikes!! MECHANICAL sorry..

ronkala Sep 12th, 2005 09:22 AM

NCgirl,
Great news and I very much share your excitement.
I've been concerned about four former crewmembers, and just heard from two of them who live in Pride and Slidell. No damage to either homes. The two I haven't located yet are from New Orleans and Chalmette.

ncgrrl Sep 12th, 2005 09:31 AM

Ronkala,

I hope everything works out for your crewmembers. My family is still considered missing on the various websites, even though they were rescued a few days ago. Also if they self-evacuated (left on their own) to a private residence they won't appear on any 'found' lists.

CD, I have goo gone stuff. I never though of paint as 'goo' but it does need to be gone.

otto Sep 12th, 2005 09:36 AM

ncgirl...that indeed is a relief, and a breathe of fresh air. what good news!

pamsf...love murphy-goode pinot! can't really get it shipped here in ny just yet...usually the stores only carry the white.

cd Sep 12th, 2005 09:41 AM

NYGirl
OK, you're right, if the paint's not sticky then Goo probaly would not make it be gone. :-) Let's just take that installation off and put new on! :-) :-)

Congrats, Ethel! So how did he propose? Were you surprised? And how many millions of times/day do you sneak peeks at your ring :D

seetheworld Sep 12th, 2005 02:15 PM

I just love good news on a Monday!!!

NCgirl, what a relief for you!!

Ethel, congratulations!! Please share the details. Was there a special place in Vermont where he popped the question? :D

buckeyemom Sep 12th, 2005 05:06 PM

P_M-Great game! Your QB is sure something! IMO, he should be a shoe in for the Heisman. Anyway, we had some of your fellow Longhorn fans stop by our tailgate and they were very nice! If we play again next year in Austin hope I can make it down!
