starrsy, I love your Funny Girl reference. I watched that whenever it was on with my Mom when it was young. (Can you imagine, we had to wait for shows to come on the networks, no vcr's, no dvd's, lol - hard to remember that, huh???)

Each year, waiting for Gone With The Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Funny Girl and It's a Wonderful Life during the holidays.

Kind of makes me smile...

BayouGal - a 77 yr old mom running for reelection !
Yippee! How extraordinary and wonderful - I want to read about her, she must be some lady.....
any links to an article about her? If not, write one!

Tiff...you made me smile this a.m.....remembering Christmas Eve tradition of watching It's A Wonderful Life with my mom after everyone gone to bed, all the cooking done, and we'd watch while doing the final touches ! Now that she is gone, my kids watch it with me....I think we know the entire script by heart....:) smiling....

I will post a picture of the purple (think lavendar)victorian house with the turret - if/when we buy it - I don't want to jinx the deal :-)

However since the seller hasn't registered the lot plan with the town (and knowing the planning department in our town) I can't think it will be anytime before the end of the year and I'm itching to get my hands on the place, it needs so much work :-(

We stopped by today and someone pulled into the driveway and took a picture with their cellphone (even though we've signed an agreement to buy - the realtor still has the For Sale sign up since he's looking for back upoffers) - I really wanted to get out of the car and shout - Hey! that's mine! :-)

I wasn't mentally in the position to post this last Friday or Saturday but I just want to say that my hugs and prayers are with all of you that have had problems and heartbreaks this last week. You are truly in my prayers and thoughts.

And my joy is with all of you that have had good news and happiness.

May everyone have special and delightful times this coming week. You all absolutly deserve nothing but the very best.

Hugs and prayers to you, LoveItaly. I hope all is well with you. The first line of your post worries me a bit.

PamT Oct 2nd, 2006 06:40 AM

Don't have a chance to read every post but good wishes and prayers to those that are in need of them this week.
Rave: Good news on my follow up mammogram - no change just come back in 6 months (Thanks for all your well wishes)
Rave: Just got back from a nice long weekend with my sweetie "up north" in Bayfield, WI The colors were absolutely gorgeous! Went to all the orchards, went for long walks, slept, read and ate, ate, ate.
Rant: Need to watch the scale this week from all that eating!
Have a good week everyone:)

Hugs to you, LoveItaly. ((l))

Pam, that's great news! :)

BayouGal Oct 2nd, 2006 07:33 AM

My mother won by a landslide!! She was seeking her second term. Due to the overwhelming voter support, she will also be Mayor Pro Tem. Thanks for all the best wishes!

Here's an excerpt from the Times-Picayune (New Orleans newspaper - nola.com) where they picked her as their recommended candidate:

"In her first term on the Board of Aldermen, she has shown the same dedication to the well-being of the town and its residents for which she was so well-known during her many years as town clerk."

Wonderful news, Pam!

Congrats to your mother, BayouGal!

Bayou Gal - awesome ! tell your mom she now has a fan club on Fodors !! She's an inspiration for everyone -

LoveItaly Oct 2nd, 2006 08:28 AM

Thank you for the hugs dear friends, I needed them!!!

I will be alright, just have had to many problems and issue to deal with, none of them my making, sigh.

So burned out and rather physically and mentally tired. But life goes on and I will recoup and regroup. Your loving thoughts sure help.

Happy Monday to all of you! ((R))

PamT Oct 2nd, 2006 08:39 AM

Aw shucks, you guys are the best!
Anytime you think you have it bad, there is always someone out there with more troubles than you.
Love dear - put your troubles at the Lords (or whichever higher power you so desire) doorstep. May you get the comfort you need to help you cope.

Hugs to those in need this week and hope for those who think there is none.

Congrats to those engaged or getting married, or running/training for marathons (I am in awe since I can't run a mile-walk yes, run no)

Safe travels to those of you who are lucky enough to be traveling:)

Have or make it a wonderful week!
Pam

Am I the only one who can't find the referenced article about BG's GM??

OldSouthernBelle Oct 2nd, 2006 08:54 AM

...and LI, I'm right there with you, girl. I know I'll be alright too, but hate the edgy-ness it gives me.

Imagine I'm there with you, holding your hand and commisserating.((F))

wtm003 Oct 2nd, 2006 08:58 AM

Loveitaly, sorry to hear you are feeling down. Please try to do something nice for yourself over the next few day. Maybe a few chocolates, a manicure, a double scoop of ice cream or a walk? I know it won't make your problems go away, but hopefully you'll feel a little better. Best wishes!

OldSouthernBelle Oct 2nd, 2006 09:09 AM

I see on another thread it is not her GM but her mom - still have not accessed the article though.

cmcfong Oct 2nd, 2006 09:11 AM

LoveItaly, I do hope things look up for you. It is such a shame when someone who always lifts everyone else's spirits feels down. Do try the chocolate ice cream RX, its a favorite of mine.

escargot Oct 2nd, 2006 09:34 AM

BayouGal's mom is 77 and just ran forre- election and won !! So many of us are amazed and inspired by this 77 year old firecracker of a lady -

LoveItaly as my nana used to say "this too shall pass" - keep repeating that and treat yourself well
