seetheworld Aug 26th, 2006 01:02 PM

LoveItaly, I'm sorry for your phone call Rant, but I have to say, reading it made me laugh! :D I have felt that way many times myself, lol. I hope you have a better week ahead.

LoveItaly Aug 26th, 2006 02:55 PM

Hi STW, I know, isn't it irritating? I ended up with a headache, especially because everything didn't get taken care of, sigh. But I am glad it gave you a giggle.

The funny thing is that the absolute best service I have had was when I had a computer problem and my Internet Provider told me I needed to call Microsoft. I got a young man in India as soon as I dialed the number. I was on the phone for ages with him and it was actually a very fun time. His English was perfect, the service he provided was A+ and after several hours he determined the problem was my Internet Provider and called them via a conferance call and had them fix the problem while I stayed on the line. We had become good buddies and he told me so much about India while he and I were doing various test with my computer. So you never know what to expect!! Take care STW.

ronkala Aug 26th, 2006 03:36 PM

Rave.
DW went to renew Zocor prescription which is now available generic. The price dropped from $80.00 to $20.00 for 90 day supply.

Rave: DS#1 ran the NYC Half Marathon today with a personal best of 1:44!

BayouGal Aug 27th, 2006 06:35 PM

I am impressed STW. Please congratulate him for all your friends in Fodorville! :)

OldSouthernBelle Aug 27th, 2006 06:59 PM

jorr: I heard that about Pluto earlier this week, then a couple days ago, they were reporting that there may actually be about 30 more small ones out there larger than Pluto...does that mean they'll 'add' those???

Rave: Had a good week in Perdido Beach at DH's conference. I did lots of Outlet mall shopping and spent too much moolah, but am pretty much 'set' for Fall.
Also got lots of cutesies for my prospective GS due Oct. 10th!

Ate lots of seafood and enjoyed working out in their gym and walking on the beach!

We spent the last couple days of the week re-finishing my SS's garage floor.

Then, raced back home in time to make it to our friends DS's engagement party...very elegant and fun!

Whew! We've had a busy week!

angethereader Aug 28th, 2006 09:38 AM

Yeah, the thing with Pluto is all the small bodies that are in the Kyber(sp) belt. I believe the astronomers decided it was just another one of those bodies.
Note - if DH is not watching the Discovery channel, he's watching The Planets of Cosmos. (sigh)
I guess I must learn these things by osmosis

jorr Aug 28th, 2006 10:11 AM

OldSouthernBelle, I'm not sure but they did add one of those planets and called it UB313. What? Why couldn't they just call it Larry or Pam?

ucsun Aug 28th, 2006 10:28 AM

rave: had my wife served with divorce papers.

rant: had my wife served with divorce papers.

Tiff Aug 28th, 2006 10:50 AM

Hi ucsun ~ I remember your story from some time ago, I am sorry this has caused you so much pain. You WILL get through this...

Today is the first day of the rest of your life!

Hang in there.

ucsun Aug 28th, 2006 11:22 AM

Thanks Tiff...i keep hearing that...can't see it yet...thanks though.

mikemo Aug 28th, 2006 12:49 PM

ronkala,
That's amazing as the generic is $69. -$139. for #100-112 depending on dose from what is typically the least expensive source in Canada.
Ah, someone else (taxpayers, etc.) are subsidizing your meds.
M

jorr Aug 28th, 2006 03:45 PM

ronkala, your meds are subsidized because the pharmacy corporations in conjuction with paid-off senators make them too expensive for many Americans to buy.

Find out how much money your representatives in government have accepted from pharmacy corporations to get re-elected.

ilovetotravel29 Aug 28th, 2006 03:47 PM

Rant-- ok, so they check your ticket and passport when you go thru security at the airport, but once you are boarding the plane, sometimes they only check just the ticket.....that seems a bit bad on the airlines' part. Of course, this only happened with one airline, but at different airports.

Rave-- my friend being totally wonderful as always and her family chipping in to help me buy a new camera!

PamSF Aug 28th, 2006 11:26 PM

jorr~Pam is the other name for Venus:)

angethereader Aug 29th, 2006 09:12 AM

ucsun - So sorry to hear about your divorce.
It doesn't matter who initiated the proceedings, your life is still being ripped in half.
My wonderful, SIL is going through the same thing. Hand in there, it will get better, but it will take a while.
Man my prayer list is getting long.

ronkala Aug 29th, 2006 09:44 AM

Mikemo-Jorr,
We switched to Canadian drugs a couple of years ago when the prescription insurance premiums from ny former company took a big leap as did the cost of the meds. As a result we saved a couple of thousand a year.

Butttt, with this administrations anti Canadian Drug Program, we figured we should figure out the new prescription program here before we were penalized
for waiting to long. The result is that the annual cost for her is less than it was through Canada even though she has a monthly premium to pay. Incidently, the generic Zocor was $15.00 for the ninety day supply, not $20.00.

jorr Aug 29th, 2006 12:21 PM

rankala, the cheapest prices I have found in the US is in Ashby MN called Borg drug. www.borgdrug.com
I did not find a generic for Zocor for you on their list but I have found generics in the past year for as much as one tenth the price of the local Wal-Mart generics. Everyone should check their web site and list of prices. I have used them for over a year and I am very satisfied with their service and prices.
