June 23rd is the happiest day of the year. Statistically speaking this is the day! So smile -stop ranting and raving on this sight and be thankful for all the places youve seen and will see in the future |
Bluestar- This is supposed to be a travel site, not a political site. Thank goodness we are not pulling out. THose people need all the help they can get!
|
Guys, be careful. This thread won't last long if y'all keep talking politics.
|
Rave: I got my paperwork to go back to Barcelona and am getting to stay here for my grandmother's 90th birthday.
Raver: My cousins will come to the birthday shindig. Ravest: I have been kissed more this week by random loved ones than ever in my life. Rant: Stuff is strewn all over my room from packing. |
If I expressed a political opinion here, I would be in jail or deported.
Still may hand a few pesos to the best and brighest. M |
Starrsville is right. I've been biting my tongue and have refrained from posting political rants for weeks rather than chance the thread being deleted.

AP reported today, "A 176-year-old tortoise believed to be one of the world’s oldest living creatures has died in an Australian zoo". This is a tortoise which Charles Darwin himself brought to the western world in the early 1800's.
This brings to mind some trees in the Nevada desert in a very undisclosed location which are the oldest living organizisms on earth at about 5000 years old. Rave: preservation. |
Wow, jorr! Reading the bit about Darwin really makes you realize just how long that tortoise had been around! Amazing!
|
Rave: I found a dress for oldest dd's renewal of vows ceremony, plus the CD we needed for music.
Rave: The kids are over whatever bug they had earlier in the week Rant: Unbeknownst to me, I caught the bug, which explains the achiness and headache I had yesterday while shopping. Rave: I enjoyed having a whole day to myself - no kids - anyway! Found my dress right away, hung out at the bookstore, and went to see X-Men 3. Lee Ann |
Rant: People who abuse their kids. Just got back from my once per week orphange visit and uuuuugggggghhhhhhh!!!!!! Why and how could anyone abuse a child?!! :@:-[
Rave: Someone rescued these abused babies and now they are safe and loved albeit in an orphanage! :S |
Abused children goes way beyond my comprehension JAGIRL. A neighbors son brought his newly adopted precious baby girl over to my residence so I could see her today. What a little darling. While I was holding this beautiful little bundle of joy the thought went through my mind "what would have happened to her if this family hadn't adopted her?". Scary to think about.
Jorr, I read today it took a hundred years for scientist to figure out the tortoise was a male, lol. EleindilPickle, wishes that you get over this virus this weekend! Take good care of yourself. Dear laclaire, there was a reason that your leaving for BRC was delayed! Enjoy your grandmother's birthday..I know that having you with her will add so much joy to her celebration. |
Aarrrrgh guess what? When I came home from my trip (DC) the other night, I saw that my kitchen sink was full of water and sludge. Stink sludge that smells like regurgitated korean seaweed soup. The pipes are shared with my neighbors and over time, with grease, things build up and this happens. Their sink is backed up too. I cannot run the disposal, that just makes it worse. Well, the rotor rooter guy came today and stuck the snake through my neighbor's disposal to unclog both...ended up breaking my pipe and all the sludge poured into my kitchen. Aarrrrgh
|
Oh, Melissa, how awful! Yuck!
|
MelissaHI - seaweed soup? Don't even think I'd want to smell it before it was regurgitated..LOL!
I feel better now, knowing it's not always paradise in Hawaii! |
2 p.m.: The roto rooter guy fixed my pipes and cleaned the entire mess. Then he hit on me!
:o |
Just after he'd cleaned the mess? Yuck again! Was he cute though?
|
well, I'm sure he's very nice, but not my type....also smelled of cigarette smoke so that's not negotiable.
|
I'm posting late, as I've been out of town this weekend.
Rant: Learned of the death of an entire young family of four last week. They were struck from behind, shoved through an intersection, fence and into a wall. The car burst into flames, killing all. They were on their way to church. Although the 'accident' took place in Arizona, the young mother used to be a neighbor and babysitter for my two sons. A very special young lady. Rave: We FINALLY have received almost 2 inches of rain, the first in over 3 months! Still need so much more! Rave: Had a good weekend with my SS and her DIL's babyshower. Good food, good company and good times. Can't wait to hear about the GA GTG and Go Travel's Tortola trip...have fun!! Poor MelissaH!:( |
OldSouthernBelle... that accident was right in our neighborhood.. so terribly sad. i prayed for the family immediately when we saw the road closure. very sad for them, and for you.
RANT: (tho late) today on the road between AZ and Cali we were almost run off the road by a certainly drunk man in a mini-van going 90+ and swerving all over the road. we witnessed him almost hit at least 10 other cars. called 911 --- i was shaking for half an hour after. i pray they got him before he got anyone!! |
callalli:
I no longer live near her parents...but in a nearby town. The newspaper article (which pictured the whole precious family), said that alcohol was not involved. Do you know what caused the driver (they gave his age as 29)to strike them at such a high rate of speed? |
