I just learned that yesterday's funeral of a National Guard soldier's funeral in Fargo who was killed in Iraq was protested by that perverted "church" in Topeka Kansas.

This church is a band of perverts who hate gay people and proteSt soldier's funerals with signs such as "God Bless IED's", and "God Hates America" in order to promote their anti-gay agenda.

Last year they protested a funeral of a soldier's funeral in Minnesota and shouted to his mother as she was entering the church that she was going to hell with her son. These soldiers are not necessarily gay and not necessarily straight. they are soldiers.

A nation-wide motorcycle group called the Patriot Guard has been protecting funerals across America from these hate whores at funerals. They go to soldier's funerals and rev their engines to drown out the insults and hold flags to block the view of hate-filled signs. There were 300 Patriot Guard motorcyclists to protect the funeral in Fargo.

Rave: We've been invited by friends to go on their sail boat this Sunday, on San Francisco Bay. Our little male Shih Tzu Zebby (Zebulon) has been invited too for his maiden voyage. They take their dog with them regularly. We may take him depending on the weather.

I just bought Zebby a bright orange doggie life jacket at the pet store - where I accidentally spotted it.

DH, who is still at work and hasn't seen it yet, keeps asking me on the telephone,'did you REALLY buy him one or are you just kidding?"

Rant: The lift jacket is way too small - I'll have to go back tomorrow, with him, and get the proper size. I don't dress him in doggie clothes, but I thought that the life jacket would be a good safety precaution.

I did buy him an adorable sun hat a few weeks ago on the SPCA, Doggie Day on the Bay Cruise. Zebby (Zebulon) wore it just long enough for me to shoot a couple of cute pictures and to pay for it, and _then_ he decided that he hated it and has refused to wear it ever since.

Rave: It's almost Mojito time ..... for us, not Zebby.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Nina & Zebby

Rave: Currently enjoying Portland. Hey, where's the sun??? :)

Rave: The 5th Ave. Suites. What a fun hotel and we're really enjoying the nightly wine tastings.

Rant: My conference is pretty boring.

Rant: Leaving the toddler at home. She's having fun with her grandparents. And her grandparents are having even more fun, so that's good.

Rave: I bought a new outfit today while on break from my conference.

Have a good weekend. I'm looking forward to being done with the conference tomorrow and checking out more of Portland.

Oh my goodness, I am laughing so hard, I was checking in just now and noticed something...
I now think that what I thought was "mcheryl" is actually "rncheryl" but in all honesty (LOL) I still can't tell if it is an "rn" or a "m"
Perhaps our dear fellow fodorite friend will enlighten me as to her real screen name.
(I am actually belly laughing, because I know this is a sign of aging, but really how can you not laugh?????)

Humiliating, I know, but how can I not share something this good.

Is there a little icon with glasses????? heee.

kureiff Jun 2nd, 2006 05:50 PM

Thanks Scarlett! We'll head over there (after the wine is gone). :)

Tiff Jun 2nd, 2006 05:57 PM

p.s. Nina, I LOVE to sail but rarely get the opportunity. Just the thought of sailing on San Francisco Bay, MAN, it transcends me. Have fun, and I am pleased with your life jacket purchase for Zebby, but sorry you need to return for a proper fit. What a lucky dog, Happy First Sailing Day, Zebby.

Scarlett...I really like your name, it is from one of my all-time favorite movies! Having said that, maybe my comment was taken in the wrong light....I do agree with Jorr....too much press over this said baby. I do, however, feel sorry, and yes, Jennifer
A. will make more than I probably ever will...sigh, but it has been a hard time for her and I do think she has risen above the speculation. Come on, she was cheated on in the public eye. I guess I am a softie. And, yes, has Angelina sp? given to Africa, a country that my dad frequents for business and sees the + and -??? Yes, she has,and that is great, but I feel .....for the other woman. Sorry.

seetheworld Jun 2nd, 2006 06:22 PM

hee, hee, hee I thought it was "m" cheryl also!! Glasses? Got 'em, I should use 'em. :D

Tiff Jun 2nd, 2006 06:29 PM

:B Thanks Scarlett, lol, hey I was thinking of you earlier when Soph was sitting on my lap, I was wondering how Pup is doing... is his little bump going away?

STW ~ at least we'll always be able to find our cup of earl grey, right???

Oh good humor.

My apologies to our "RNcheryl" Bless your heart and sorry I mistook you for "MCheryl" in my eariler post! :B

RANTS: If it's Friday, it must be . . . NOT RAINING in our neck of the woods in GA. I took my dogs to the kennel one town south to board this weekend---it was raining "cats and dogs" there, we had to ford a river to get to their inside runs! Daughter driving down for dinner from Ga. Tech in Atlanta, north of us, calls in a hailstorm and rainstorm that is pelting her car and making a lake of the interstate. But Griffin, GA? Dry as a BONE. What have we done, oh rain gods?

RAVE: Off to Montgomery tomorrow where DFIL will be inducted into the AL Medical Hall of Fame. If ever anyone deserved this honor it is this man: for 40 years of service on the state medical board, the hospital board, former pres. of AMA of AL, 40 years of Rotary service, deacon of his church, now a city councilman and always a gentleman farmer breeding Angus cows. I am in awe of his accomplishments, and all his children respected him so much that they also became physicians. I guess they saw how fulfilled his life was, even when they were children, and wanted to model theirs after his. :)

OLD SOUTHERN BELLE: Congratulations!!! to you, your son and your DIL. Is she the lovely young lady we met at the Atlanta GTG last November?

seetheworld Jun 2nd, 2006 06:34 PM

Oh, and thank you Tiff for the mini-report! :) It sounds like you had a peaceful trip. ((f)) The food sounds yummy too. :)

LoveItaly Jun 2nd, 2006 06:57 PM

Happy weekend everyone.

Rave: Our perfect weather here where I live. At least until it gets really hot.

Rant: The smog and horrible air in the SF/Bay Area where I went to yesterday..but it made me glad that I now live where I do even though it is not the most exciting place to live.

Rave: A dear friend who has a big worry but is handling it with so much grace and strength. I so admire her and her dear husband.

Rant: People that are dealing with health problems and that do not get the phone calls and appointments as soon as they should. I so wish the people in the medical field would put themselves in position that their patients are in. Communications would so help those with health problems.

Rant: PM..YIKES..I hope that neighbor is no longer your neighbor.

Rave: Dear Tiff who got a "break" from life, welcome home dear one.

More than a Rave: The Patriot Guards who attend funerals for those killed in action and protect the family and loved ones from the sick demonstrations at military funeral and burials.

Wishing everyone a beautiful weekend, along with hopefully some fun summer vacation plans!!

claire_bluesky Jun 2nd, 2006 07:05 PM

Rant: I tripped on my slippers, and I hit my bedside table chin first, and somehow cut my knee as well as my chin. I thought falling was for little kids.
:-?

Rave: I didn't need stitches.

DoubleRave: Leaving for Glacier NP in nine days!

Saraho Jun 2nd, 2006 07:16 PM

Rant: I tripped, too, only it was on concrete so I broke my shoulder and ankle. Instead of a trip to Florida, my only trip was to the emergency room.

Rave: no surgery needed- just six weeks out of commission and all the computer tme I want. That is, with one hand typing.

rncheryl Jun 2nd, 2006 07:56 PM

Hey Tiff:

It is R N Cheryl: I've been a nurse since, oh, about the time of Florence Nightengale!

Love ya...

amwosu Jun 2nd, 2006 08:04 PM

Hey Tiff, I have a little condo in Fountain Hills which is just east of Scottsdale. Where are you building? You and me and emd need to have a little GTG.

Glad to hear you like Ocean (I guess locals call it "O".) Haven't been yet but hear good things. I love Elements at Sactuary at sunset, Greasewood Flat for the ambiance, country music andcheeseburgers, and Waters Edge in Fountain Hills.

Tiff Jun 3rd, 2006 06:46 AM

RNcheryl ~ I will wish you a Happy Belated Nurse's Day! I have a dear friend here that is a nurse, and I just wished her the same a few weeks ago. What a wonderful gift you give to all of us! I wish your pay scale was much, much higher, all of our health care workers deserve so much.

Hi amwosu ~ On the north end, but it won't be done for many months, I am still learning the area but I know it is north. It will be an investment property but hopefully we will be able to use it a couple times a year. Glad to hear about your favorite spot to dine and I know if STW sees this she will find it useful too, thanks! :)
