Freaky Friday Rants and Raves

One big rant today: I am not supposed to be posting on Freaky Friday today. Supposed to be hiking in Zion at the moment. Close friend and hiking buddy had to cancel trip at the last minute. I'm bumming big time.

Rave: We are trying to reschedule for May.

Rant: But it's going to be crowded then, and we can't get a good room. Nix on the Desert Pearl, and have to switch rooms twice in 5 days at Flanigan's.

Rave: At least we can get a room at Flanigan's, period.

Rant: This trip was scheduled for my birthday. Makes me realize how very much I look forward to and need those travel breaks!

sfowler Mar 26th, 2004 05:00 AM

Happy Birthday emd :D

rant: I'm not in San Diego -- where we were last week
rant: It's raining here and the new term starts next week
rave: oh boy -- hmmm ... ummm ??? Okay -- my husband and cats still love me??

doc_ Mar 26th, 2004 05:06 AM

Rant: The Apprentice is fixed. Nothing more than a marketing tool for Trump to show off all his properties and assets. And,Nick should have been fired last night. I dont think he said two words in the whole show.

Rave: 60 degrees in Boston today.

cyberUK Mar 26th, 2004 05:10 AM

Rant:
I too missed my birthday abroad last week. We had to leave Italy the day before to return home early due to a family emergency. Paid an unholy amount of money to Alitalia for oneway tickets with 15 hours notice.
Rave:
Everything worked out fine at home, and I was glad we were here.
Rave:
We will just have to go back to Italy sooner now to complete this trip.

Patrick Mar 26th, 2004 05:17 AM

Rant: (stealing from Doc above): "The Apprentice is fixed. Nothing more than a marketing tool for Trump to show off all his properties and assets."

Rave: I figured that out when I saw the previews for the show before it ever aired, so never watched it. Is it over? Does that mean we won't have to watch the endless ads for it night and day? Hooray!

Birdie Mar 26th, 2004 05:17 AM

Rant: I spent my birthday scrubbing my bathrooms and going to a meeting. No time to do it any other day.
Rave: It is gorgeous here in VA this week. Happy Birthday to all the other March babies.

cyberUK Mar 26th, 2004 05:21 AM

Happy birthday emd. I hope May works out

bennnie Mar 26th, 2004 05:23 AM

doc- Of course the Apprentice is fixed to a certain degree. You're smart enough to know that. And since when has opening your mouth on that show done anyone any good. Flying below the radar is what its all about - just like in the real world of business.

My rants: Nomar is injured. And I can't go to at least 2 of the Red Sox games that I bought tickets for.

Rave: Daubach - doc you know what I mean. Hate to see anyone get hurt and I'm glad its not serious but there's a little poetic justice in Brian Daubach, the dirt dog struggling to make the team, being involved in that play.

Carp Mar 26th, 2004 05:24 AM

Rave: Going to Chicago at 3pm to see boyfriend!!! So excited to see him and have dinner downtown!

Rant: Staying at work until my flight. This day is dragging on and on!

doc_ Mar 26th, 2004 05:35 AM

Bennnie, So good to have Daubach back and I really expected to see the worst on that play. Wouldnt that have been a true "reversal of the curse" if it kept A-Rod out for a long time?

Margie Mar 26th, 2004 05:38 AM

Rant: I own my own business and work very hard to make it profitable. I just had a relative tell me point blank that I have too much time on my hands and I need to get a job, have kids or help her on her farm - AAGGGHHH!

Rave: A trip to Provence is a possibility for next fall.

emd Mar 26th, 2004 05:48 AM

rave: I knew I'd feel better if I posted on here. I will at least not spend my birthday scrubbing the bathroom like Birdie, and at least I didn't get there and have to come home unexpectedly, like cyberUK.
margie: I own my own business too. Personally, I think it's nobody's business, not even a relative. What swipe that relative tried to take though (probably jealous?) I'd smile and say, "yeah, maybe someday; gotta go take care of business now" to all those statements and just get on w/the life you've chosen!

poochie Mar 26th, 2004 05:49 AM

Rant: Gas prices (don't get me started).
Rave: My sister is getting married next week. After being divorced for over 20 years.
Happy Birthday to
EMD, CyberUK, Birdie
CHEERS

Margie Mar 26th, 2004 05:58 AM

emd: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Margie Mar 26th, 2004 05:58 AM

. . . and happy birthday!

Paul Mar 26th, 2004 06:04 AM

Rant: I have Easter Break coming up - 10 days - and am not traveling. Unusual for me to stay home in Michigan during any break from work.

Rave: I have Easter Break coming up - 10 days - and am not traveling. Unusual for me to stay home in Michigan during any break from work.

Damn, am I confused or what?

LoriNY Mar 26th, 2004 06:10 AM

Rant: I don't have a 10 day Easter Break. How do I become a teacher again?

Rave: it's finally Friday (how sad that that is all I can rave about)

Paul Mar 26th, 2004 06:13 AM

Very funny, Lori. And I hear you on that 'Friday' thing too. :-)

jasper Mar 26th, 2004 06:26 AM

missjanna Mar 26th, 2004 06:38 AM

Rant: BF is going to be playing poker tonight with the boys while I do some spring cleaning....

Rave: 4 weeks till vacation

Rave: Finally feels like spring here in NYC, so I was able to break out the open sandals...

Rave: They're filming a movie right outside my office window with a rain machine...it's supposed to be called "Dark Water".

Rave: It's Friday!!

Rave: The school kids will be on their Easter vacations soon and I will not have to deal with hearing them cursing and swearing and shoving on my bus to work! (They call one of the schools on my bus route "Marine Park Correctional")

kkraczek Mar 26th, 2004 06:41 AM

rant: I'm sick waaaahhhh

rave: It's Friday and hubby is coming home after being gone all week! :D

kaudrey Mar 26th, 2004 06:59 AM

Rant - I have a cold.

Rave - it'll be 70 degrees here in DC today! I love spring!

Rant - I worked way too many hours this week.

Rave - I'm taking the convertible out for a weekend road trip!

Happy birthday to all those celebrating around this time. Mine was last week too.

Karen

cd Mar 26th, 2004 07:42 AM

Rant: My husband did not get the job we left vacation early to interview for.:-(

Rave: We have no travel debt. :-)

jor Mar 26th, 2004 08:04 AM

Patrick. This might ruin your friday. The Apprentice will be on for two more weeks followed the third week with a two hour live finalle. Thats about 21 days of promos, day and night on just about every channel. I suggest a three week vacation for you!

Personally I like the show but I believe Trump is a media whore who can't get enough of himself. Troy will win. The only one without a college degree and by far the smartest.

jasper Mar 26th, 2004 08:35 AM

rant: i second that about gas prices. i drive a grand jeep cherokee!
rant: all the mindless stuff going on politically. it's driving me crazy, and starving for an intelligent conversation...and leaders.
poochie...how nice for your sister.
miss janna...is the rain machine a rant or a rave? :) well at least it's not real rain!
c.d...good luck to your husband.
;)

Diana Mar 26th, 2004 08:36 AM

Rant: My husband was traveling on his birthday Wednesday. :(

Rave!!!: I delivered my mare's bay colt yesterday morning at 8 a.m.!!!
I held his head in my hands as he took his first breath and opened his eyes :)

AND... It's 76 here in Raleigh today, and I get to leave early to let baby and mama outside for baby's first look at the world.

cassidy2002 Mar 26th, 2004 08:41 AM

Diana~
I personally don't think anyone can top your rave!!! It brought tears to my eyes, that must've been a wonderful, inspiring, life clarifying moment......
My rave: reading that post!!

atilla Mar 26th, 2004 08:42 AM

Rave: Diana's post! How beautiful.

arjay Mar 26th, 2004 08:48 AM

A third rave for Diana and the image of that newly arrived foal!

More raves: In NE Wisconsin, the world is noisy again (after waking snow-covered silence). Can hear cranes in the woods; gulls screeing overhead and lots of other birdie chatter.

Rave: Snowdrops are peeking through and last year's dianthus is emerging still-green.

Rave: Yesterday was the last day of a 5 year+ p/t job I was soooo ready to leave.

Rant: With all that, how could I possibly??

sam Mar 26th, 2004 08:49 AM

Rave: Today is the best weather we've had since last October!
Rave: Finalized plans this week for road trip from Boston to Hershey & Amish areas of PA - thanks to the posters who helped!
Rave: It's Friday - no rants from me!

Bennnie - please please please will you sell me your Sox tix? I've tried so many times online with NO success - please help? [email protected]

FainaAgain Mar 26th, 2004 09:00 AM

Rave: my older son is in a band, and yesterday they were finally in the city (San Francisco) and I got to see them live.

Rave: they played in a bar, and the guy at the door asked me for ID. Hey, I haven't heard that compliment in years!!
:-p

travelinwifey Mar 26th, 2004 09:07 AM

rant: 6 1/2 weeks till we travel again :((
I'm melting, melting I say!

rave: hubby's off this weekend

rave: my parents are on their way to FLA and their cruise as we speak \:D/

cd Mar 26th, 2004 09:15 AM

Rave: Thanks Jasper.
Rave: What a "good feeling" story Diana!

kikahead Mar 26th, 2004 09:38 AM

Rave: My sister accepted Columbia's offer for grad school which means I will have a place to stay when visiting New York for the next six years.

Rant: She will be living off a tiny stipend so her apartment will most likely be in a colorful area.

Rave: Booked my cruise with my in-laws for Alaska. We got a deluxe suite with a balcony--very excited! First cruise for me!

Rant: The cost is more then my rent for a month!!!

michelleNYC Mar 26th, 2004 10:05 AM

Rave: It's 65 degrees in NYC right now!! Woohoo!! Going to BBQ with some friends on the Upper West Side this evening!!

Rant: Have to work on Sunday :(

Rave: Leaving next Thursday for a month in Madrid with my family!!!!! :))

DebbieAllen Mar 26th, 2004 10:46 AM

Rant: I work at a creative, relaxed company, on products I really like, but the team I work with is jaded, immature, and not passionate about the products. It makes me want to SCREAM! Don't they realize how lucky they are?

Rave: My husband is taking me somewhere tomorrow, it's a surprise, but I have to bring an outfit to wear for dinner and some "relaxing" clothes. I think it's dinner/hotel/spa time! I love him!

michaelcrane Mar 26th, 2004 11:03 AM

Rant: The weather is nice but I am going to be inside watching the NCAA tourney all weekend.

Rave: The weather is nice but I am going to be inside watching the NCAA tourney all weekend.

jor Mar 26th, 2004 11:21 AM

kikahead, "my cruise with my in-laws for Alaska. We got a deluxe suite with a balcony".

Your rant is that this costs more than your rent for a month? Wow! (yes I know that your cruise will only be about 5 or 7 days) if you are comparing a deluxe room on a cruise ship for you and your spouse, to an apartment for two? you must live in an expensive apartment!

Am I missing something?

atilla Mar 26th, 2004 11:27 AM

No no no, the confusing thing about kikahead's post is the fact that she says "Booked my cruise with my in-laws for Alaska." and calls that a rave. Usually the in-laws are a rant!

Lewis Mar 26th, 2004 11:34 AM

Rant: I commute on the I 95 corridor that MELTED last night (and will be closed for 2 weeks)in a fuel truck accident!

Rave: It's Friday and I'm meeting cousins in NYC for my belated 50th birthday dinner!
