rjw_lgb_ca: that's not ranting, it's inspiring! Best of luck to your sister.
As for me: rave - I get to go on concert tour with my sweetie and his chamber choir in less than 3 weeks!
rant - he's had late night rehearsals all this week and I haven't spent any kind of time with him since Tuesday.
rave - He doesn't have to rehearse tomorrow!
rant - but they have a big concert and he's got to focus, because he's got a significant solo.
rave - I'll get to hear him sing it!

missjanna Feb 27th, 2004 10:23 AM

Rant: I can't seem to fall asleep before 2am at all which kills me when I get up at 6:30am for work.

Rant: They switched the trains by my house which now adds 10 minutes to my already hour and 10 min commute from Brooklyn to Manhattan. And yet they claim this switch was supposed to "save time"! Ha!

Rave: 3 more hours and I get to go home for the weekend! Woohoo! And the weather is supposed to be in the 50's!

Rant: Just when we all thought it was safe to post....the SJ Weirdo is back...

Rant: People who: 1. Don't put their location in the title of their post 2. Refuse to do searches 3. Post the same question numerous times instead of topping the original post when someone doesn't answer them in 10 minutes 4. Decide to travel during a major holiday and then gripe about why it's so expensive or there's no availability. (same rule applies for those who book last minute.)

Maybe we should start a thread titled: Posting Tips for Newbies!!

Rave: Today is payday....enuff said ;-)

karens Feb 27th, 2004 10:27 AM

Rant: The 76ers

GoTravel Feb 27th, 2004 11:05 AM

rjw, big props to your sister for being such a hero and an inspiration!

Rant: It's 38 degrees and raining today.

Rave: It is supposed to be in the 70s all next week. Upper 60s by tomorrow!

poochie Feb 27th, 2004 11:06 AM

Rant: Temp. Low 60's in Florida
Rave: Today's my BIRTHDAY!!!

travelmom13 Feb 27th, 2004 11:12 AM

Rant: I had food poisoning from shrimp this week and my car has a flat tire.

Rave: I lost a little bit of weight from the food poisoning and my tire was fixed for free!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

sam Feb 27th, 2004 11:31 AM

poochie - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

rjw - best of luck to your sister - many blessings to her!

emd1 - ROFLMAO from that thread - just craziness!

Ani - Did you pick out names yet? (I think there's a thread on here about it from you) Hang in there!

Happy Travels to all and to all a Good Weekend!

emd1 Feb 27th, 2004 11:39 AM

poochie: Do your loved ones sing "Happy Birthday, dear Poochie" at the end of the song for you? The fodorites will.

rjw_lgb_ca Feb 27th, 2004 11:44 AM

Thanks to all for the good wishes for my sister, who's busy painting and faux-wainscoting my mom's basement right now in Bucks County CA. Her goal will be to get healed up and finish my mom's redecorating before summer, when it'll be too hot!

poochie Feb 27th, 2004 11:47 AM

I wish they did. Sadly, they sing "You look like a monkey and you smell like one too". This is a "Family Tradition" that my father and his sense of humor(?) started when we were small children. But I don't sing that to my child.

Scarlett Feb 27th, 2004 11:50 AM

poochie, I wished you a Happy Birthday with flowers and rjw-I wished your sister well and told you how lucky she is to be your sister!!!...but Fodors ate it up~

SO....HAPPY BIRTHDAY POOCHIE ((F))((F))

jor Feb 27th, 2004 11:59 AM

=D>: Friday/Payday and it's sunny outside-expecting good weekend weather.

=D>: MelissaHI did bring the sunshine from Hawaii on her trip to SF.

>:O: Mrs Kal and I can't go to SF and party with her! Like she'll need our help.

emd Feb 27th, 2004 02:03 PM

RAve: Poochie will have a toast for us all tonight, won't you?

can't get this weird picture out of my head of jor caught up in jor's hair.

rant: people who enjoy making a big deal out of correcting someone, in real life and on fodors

Ani Feb 27th, 2004 02:38 PM

sam: thanks! name post wasn't started by me...I just made a comment on it b/c MY name is unusual (to folks from these parts, at least)...we've had our child's name picked out for years!

rjw_lgb_ca Feb 27th, 2004 03:15 PM

Scarlett: You are so very sweet! I'm blushing.... :">

ellen_griswold Feb 27th, 2004 07:38 PM

RAVE: Inspiration from wonderful, altho faceless people we meet on line.....such as RJ's comment: "RAVE: Cancer is a LIFE sentence, not a death sentence, and it's up to us to keep our lives wonderful in sickness or in health."

Thank you rj, how profoundly true! And i will quote you! Praying for your sis...keep us posted!

(also, many companies will match donations to charities and non-profit organizaions....see your HR dept for details.)

RAVE: We get to see son 'rusty' soon, who is now away at college. YAAAAY! Miss him soo much, but he's kickin major butt and having the time of his life! ;)

ellen_griswold Mar 1st, 2004 09:17 AM

topping for RJ, our fave SoCal expert! ;)

rjw_lgb_ca Mar 1st, 2004 09:31 AM

ellen: Awww, you're too sweet too! :">

My sis is doing fine-- a bit down, but this is NOT dire, just serious. There's no evidence of any other growths, and there's an outside chance this ISN'T malignant. In any case, everyone's very optimistic. We'll get it behind us so she can have a good summer!

Monday RANT: When oh WHEN will we be able to have a thread concerning the San Francisco Bay Area survive more than a day without the bizarre misdirections of our resident San José booster?! I've noticed that people that actually HAVE reasons to go to San José now cite this nutjob specifically when they say why they WON'T ever go there. It's a shame-- the Tech Museum is truly great....
