Happy Friday to all!

Rave: DS turning 12 tomorrow, how time flies! Taking he and 14 friends tubing at the ski-area tonight and then all are sleeping over...can you say "chaos"?

Rave: Last year I just watched, but this year I'm tubing too, I refuse to called a boring mom!

Rant: It's supposed to be 8 degrees tonight....brrrrrr

Rave: Since BF unofficially moved in last week, it's been great getting a routine going with his kids and mine - now to get 4 people's stuff into my house, soon to be very cluttered!

Rave: Life is grand!

PamSF Feb 18th, 2005 08:11 AM

Rave: We saw "Caroline or Change" last Sunday. I thought it was brillant. Then we snagged a table at a place we loved by calling at intermission to see if there were any cancellations. Anyone coming to SF should definitely check into a meal at Quince!

Rant: a four day stretch at the hospital over this weekend when all around me folks have off and are leaving for the snow or NYC to see the Gates..

Rave: got to make reservations for a Spring trip to see my beloved sister and her family. It's a weekend filled with kid's baseball games, school or little theater plays, and hanging out. One of my favorite of trips.

It's cold and raining here in the SF Bay area.

Tpatricco: what model did you buy?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Gotravel,
That was a great game to see, just as last nights Duke/VaTech game.

Is Ernie Nestor still an asst coach at SC? I remember his years at George Mason.

Hi PamSF, it's our fourth Volvo... A 740 GL Wagon. It will allow me to save for the S60R I really want. Our others are a '67 1800S (Like the car Roger Moore drove on The Saint), a '71 142 fully restored, and DH drives a '91 240 Wagon as his daily driver. We are a Volvo family! :)

Thanks for the support, Cassandra. and you're right. At this point, the apps are done (thank goodness thats over!) and whe will go to one of those schools, or horrors! will end up at UH. The decision is out of her hands until the acceptance letters come.

She applied at a range of schools in NYC, boston, Chicago and DC though. Hopefully she'll hear yes from several and thats when the visits will be useful.

I really feel for kids these days. The whole college process has gotten so stressful, especially for the ones who are well educated & smart, but not academic superstars.

Melissa- wrong neighbors...susan & Jonn are my friends! Tell him about your Brazil trip...he lived down there for years.

For eveyone else, Have a great weekend! I hope lots of you get Monday off!

Lucy

Hi Trish, there's a Volvo promotion ad in the paper today -- perhaps you've seen it but if not it reads...

"See Europe the Volvo way--explore Europe in your own custom built Volvo and the bring the pleasure of driving a Volvo back hom..." For more information check out www.volvocars.us/mybagsarepacked

Thanks descepedes. I would love to take overseas delivery on the new one in a couple years! Sounds like a great way to blend DH's car hobby with our mutual love of travel!

jasper Feb 18th, 2005 11:11 AM

jasper Feb 18th, 2005 11:16 AM

Rave: Found a wonderful little restaurant called the Daily Planet that we may have our rehearsal dinner at. For $14.95 you get lobster bisque, salad, rib eye steak and dessert. :) We will have a banquet room called the Star Room which is beautiful and elegant.

Rave: Had a wonderful V-Day up at Ducey's on the Lake. www.basslake.com We had a spa suite, steak and lobster dinner, just wonderful. Lots of roses and chocolates, also! :)

Rave: Three day weekend, hopefully some snowboarding, but our condo is all booked for the next three days!

Rave: Lots of rain our way, everything will be lush and green, just like Oregon! :)

Rave: A very nice lunch yesterday with little DD and DH at our favorite little corner cafe. Saw our pastor walking through town and chatted with him for awhile. :)

Rave: Our little chicks are doing great, they are so much fun to watch grow! Happy weekend, happy travels! ***kim*** ((r)) ((r)) ((r))

>>Rant: For those interested in Bugs' extreme makeover http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6989380/<<

The horror, the horror...and I just can't imagine that Bugs in a dress...

Rant/Rave: We've had a very stressful last couple of months - oldest dd is home from college for a semester while she finishes incompletes and receives treatment for anxiety and depression. It's great having her here, but we've had things to work out. We're all doing better, though.

My mil died in early January, and dh, oldest dd, and I made a quick trip to Los Angeles to clean out her apartment and take care of some legal stuff. She had set up most of her assets in a trust, which made things much easier for dh and his siblings.

On the brighter side, we'll have more money to travel and do some work on our house now. Dd is on track to go back to school for her senior year in the fall. We bought a TempurPedic mattress and are sleeping better. :-)

Thanks so much, Statia and GoTravel, for your kind words. :-) GT, actually I have been doing weights for almost four months now, along with the water aerobics and walking when I can! I think that's why some of my friends think I have lost more weight than I have....... the weights definitely change your body!

Cassandra, sure hope your Mom continues to do well!

Again, happy weekend, all!

Rave: I had the most incredible massage today. The massage therapist knew what she was actually doing. I felt so energized afterwards!!! I know it sounds trivial and much needed.
Beautiful day, great family and wonderful friends. Everyone healthy too!

rant: Really none. Except I hear we might get snow tonight. I am ready for spring.
Have a great weekend!!!

annesherrod Feb 18th, 2005 02:35 PM

RAVE * RAVE * RAVE * RAVE * RAVE

The Gates :) What a fabulous day walking through Central Park! It was cold and blustery which made the Gates even more intriguing. The fabric, which was textured and fluid, blew briskly in the wind at some points - at other times, gently - almost resembling a domino effect.

We headed over to Columbus Circle to catch up with our youngest son and headed to the Time Warner Center to pick up our complimentary book of The Gates which was a gift from our car dealer :D We quickly grabbed sandwiches and coffee at PAX and headed back into the park.

At some point, we noticed a small entourage of cars - someone spotted Christo and Jeanne-Claude! As we approached Bethesda Fountain, the same cars were stopped at the red light - apparently they were circling the park. The windows were down and IT WAS Christo and Jeanne-Claude - you just cannot miss her flaming orange or maybe it's saffron hair!! I waved and said "Thank you!" and she kindly waved back - it was very exciting!

It is not my intention to begin a debate - just sharing my RAVE of the day. It was a very delightful day!

Euw, what's with the evil looking cartoon characters? Shouldn't this fall under the category of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it?'
