Freaky Friday 7/23 - non-political version
 

Rant: Millipede infestation that means lots of crawling dashes and hyphens all over the outside walls and some creeping into the house and turning into little dead circles.

Rave: we just booked a fabulous 35th anniversary trip for October to Carmel/Monterey and San Francisco -- splurging on Tickle Pink Inn and Mark Hopkins fancy rooms, will eat far too well that weekend, too, I'm sure.

Rave - I have a full weekend of plans including a happy hour, a BBQ, a concert on the streets of DC, and an Orioles game.

Rants - Life is good, I have no rants today (and a "Rave" that I can say that!).

Rant/Rave: Also while mowing I saw a sleepy, small sized skunk meander out of one garden bed and into another beside the house :-?

Rant: We too have a terrible millipede infestation! It's so bad I purchased an insecticide (Demon). Hope it works..

Rave: My son's 18th birthday, a beautiful wife, a nice life.

Rave: decespedes found the baby frogs before she mowed them ;)

Rant: building a house is very stressful

Rave: our house will be done in a few weeks (???)

Rant: I REALLY need to vacuum

Rave: my kids are happy and healthy ((L))

Rave--Had a great vacation to the central part of our state (Oregon)!

Rant--Came home to 98 degree heat. Not usually this hot so noone has a/c.

Rave--Spent more time outdoors than indoors on vacation...nothing better than that.

If my govenor refered to others as "girlie men" I think I'd go non-political too.

Rant: Construction on I-40 in Durham that has a created an incredibly dangerous stretch of 2 narrow lanes caught between concrete barriers with no shoulder and no margin for error. We've already had 2 miserable crashes that have shut down the highway for miles and hours. Travelers to NC, be aware!

Rave: Local photo shop liked my beach shots so well they want to enlarge and hang one in the shop. Blush!

RAVE: We live in a FREE country! God Bless America!!

RANT: Some people take that privlege way too far!

Rave: My husband has had the best summer visit ever with his teenaged daughter.

Rave: As much as we've loved having her, she leaves Sunday and we will have our privacy once again.

Rave: Three day weekend with the day after Carnival (Monday) being a holiday....AND I will have peace and quiet at home to enjoy it. Ahhhh.

Rave: Going to the Calypso Show at Carnival tonight and plan to have fun, fun, fun until the wee hours!

Rave: We can all sleep in for a change tomorrow!

Rave: The weather has been absolutely gorgeous and looks to remain the same for awhile.

Our daughter comes home from two weeks' camp!

RANT: She's going to be bringing a lot of stinky camp laundry with her.

RAVE: Tour de France!

RANT: I have tons of ironing to do.

RAVE: When my husband comes home from work and asks if I've spent the whole day glued to the Tour de France, I can smile sweetly and say "No, dear, I've been doing your ironing." (Ironing board glued to TV, haha!)

Rave: Scarlett's Yank's heroics in the great Gekko Games! Catching one is a real feat, Scarlett, and I had to laugh at Pup's excitement. I bruised my arm diving for one a couple of weeks ago. He was sitting on a slat of my plantation shutters, gazing wistfully at the outside and I was determined to "save" him. Nearly broke the shutter, big bruise on my arm, but he was saved. He had looked so forelorn peering out! :(

Rave: Two days of sun after close to 8 inches of rain this week!

Rave: Son's beautiful new house being built in Frisco, TX. Little did we know when we moved to Dallas in '77 with that 3 year old, that we were creating a permanent Texan.

Rant: The Dow (sigh) falling below 10,000 again. "Oh when willlll it ever end..." (to the tune Where Have All the Flowers Gone :) )

RAVE: Had a girls weekend getaway last weekend at a mansion in Steamboat Springs...no baby-just good friends and a LOT of alcohol!

RAVE: Baby did GREAT with dad (and vice versa).

Rant: Due to some chronic but not severe health problems, lost my pilot's license medical qualification a few years ago and have not been able to personally fly an airplane for quite some time.

Rave: FAA announced this week a new category of pilot's license that does not require a medical qualification. Maybe I'll be able to do some limited flying again soon.

Just raves:

My daughter got home safely yesterday after a great trip to Florida.

Durango is finally getting some decent summer rain for the first time in 5 years. My vegetable garden is green and very happy, so we'll have fresh peas and salad tonight.

Vacation starts Monday. We're supposed to camp and hike for 6 days on the Colorado Trail. Our plans may get rained out, but I still won't rant because we need the rain so much.

Rant: Temperature has been 90+ degrees all week and my central air conditioning unit is broken. Service man says the unit is 25 years old and they may not be able to get the part it needs, in which case I will have to buy a complete new unit.
Rave: They found a part and are couriering it today. With any luck it should be installed tomorrow just in time for the cold front that's rolling in.
Rave: We don't have a millipede infestation.

Can't think of much this week...it's been pretty quiet

Rave: Parents offered to pay for half of my car rental for mid August when my BF will be away during training, and then BF offered to pay the other half!! (Parents are paying because they wouldn't lend me one of their cars)

Rant: Yankees are losing right now to the Red Sox....grrrrrr and what is with Captian Caveman? Get a haircut!!

Rant: Packing, it never seems to end when you're moving....

Rave: BF agreed to start planning the San Diego / Las Vegas trip...
