cassidy2002 Apr 23rd, 2004 09:10 AM

Rant: Pat Tillman, who gave up an NFL career and a 3.6 million dollar contract to be an Army Ranger, was killed in Afghanistan.

Rave: That there are people like Pat Tillman that have beliefs and ideals greater than money, fame, and the like.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family. And the families of those that have a loved one overseas, in harms way.

God bless.

Mary2Go Apr 23rd, 2004 09:17 AM

Rave: Going to David Bowie concert tonight with my 16 year old son, and he isn't even embarrassed to go with me!
Rave: Joined Weight Watchers again!
Rant: Had to join Weight Watchers again!

Rosemary1 Apr 23rd, 2004 09:36 AM

Rave: We're having a spring winter storm in Denver, the heavy, wet stuff that is beautiful and the reason many of us live here.

Rant: The Avs suffered a Shark attack last night!

Rant: We're still facing another major drought this summer, so keep the snow coming!

Cassandra Apr 23rd, 2004 09:51 AM

Rant: my bedroom and laundry floors and walls are all torn up because of a leak in a pipe in the wall. We're going to have weeks of sleeping in the guest room and enduring "mold remediation," drying of floors, fixing of walls and floors, and no use of the washer and dryer. Laundromat, YUCK. Send quarters.

Rave: the hummingbirds are back!!!
Glad you like the snow, Rosemary, but I'm awfully grateful for the greenery, blooms, and those courageous/cantakerous little birdies that buzz their way over thousands of miles and still have energy left to fight over a hummingbird feeder.

Keeps the "raves-rants" in proper perspective.

Hi everyone,

OliveOyl - that is wonderful news. I am so happy with you.

My thoughts and prayers are will all of our countrymen/women and their families fighting the war.

Rave: It is a beautiful day here in DC, I took out the convertible, and I am leaving work early!

Rant: I'm leaving earlier to go to the dentist. :(

Ani Apr 23rd, 2004 11:36 AM

Here I am! Eyes only slightly crossed!
RAVE: Baby is a sleeper and, aside from waking every 2.5-3 hours, I got a combined total of 8 hours sleep last night!

RAVE: I only have 6 more pounds to my pre pg weight and a size 5 again...woohoo! I guess all that pregnant running paid off!

RANT: I'm missing my husband...

kat Apr 23rd, 2004 11:42 AM

cd Apr 23rd, 2004 12:00 PM

RAVE: Great news OliveOyl for you Popeye and daughter!

simpsonc510 Apr 23rd, 2004 02:21 PM

Rave: Only 31 more days to wake up to the alarm clock!! I'm retiring!!!

Rant: I have to get up with the alarm clock 31 more days before retiring!

(I actually still love my teaching job, but will enjoy retirement MORE as it will give me MORE time for traveling!)

cfc Apr 23rd, 2004 04:41 PM

rant: did anyone else see this: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...ed_from_buffet

An AP story about a couple on the Atkins diet barred from a buffet restaurant for eating too much meat. Having battled my bulges all my life, I'll usually cut anyone some slack on the overweight issue, but PEOPLE: eating TWELVE servings of beef at one meal is NOT how you lose weight, Atkins or not!!!!!

Rave: OO's good news and anyone else's.

Fodorite018 Apr 23rd, 2004 04:50 PM

Rant: Dh's new job entails long hours.

Rave: Dh took today off and we went hiking! Had the trails to ourselves:)

indytravel Apr 23rd, 2004 05:19 PM

Rave: The rain stopped long enough for me to work in my yard this evening and the lilies-of-the-valley smelled wonderful!

Rant: The oak trees are dropping their green pollen cr*p and I'm going to need a decongestant to sleep tonight.

Rave: I leave for France Thursday!

Rant: I have to wait 6 more days for France!

Cassandra where are you? I'm in central Indiana and still waiting for my hummingbirds.

GoTravel Apr 23rd, 2004 06:01 PM

Twelve servings of roast beast? At some point, you have to look at calories.

Cassandra Apr 24th, 2004 04:01 PM

I'm in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. This is the week to be here -- a riot of azaleas!

Yawn_boring Apr 24th, 2004 05:40 PM

RANT:
the fact that a STUD like Pat Tillman is no longer with us

RAVE:
that the weenies like NY Newsday continue to whine and wet their pants every day

indytravel Apr 24th, 2004 07:11 PM

Thanks Cassandra. I was curious about the h-birds.

Another rave: Though I still don't have any hummingbirds I'm glad I set my feeder out last week. Today I watched a Baltimore Oriole eat from my hummingbird feeder: orange & black and gorgeous. Who knew they liked hummingbird feeders? :-)
