"If all you want to do is chill, take a look at Sanibel and Captiva Islands off Fort Myers. By June Naples is just dead, and there's really nothing to do there. I mean really nothing."
I'm really trying to understand that statement. Are you suggesting there is MORE to do in Captiva and Sanibel in June or July than Naples? Really? Naples has live theatre all summer, it has concerts in the park, it has a couple of artfairs, comedy clubs, improv performances, and street entertainers. It has the Zoo, the Conservancy, the Everglades, the Corkscrew Swamp and boardwalk, a couple of museums, and the Botanical Gardens (compared to just Ding Darling on Sanibel), dozens of golf courses and plenty of tennis courts. It has infinitely more restaurants and nightclubs or bars than the islands, and tons of shopping (not just a handful of shell shops and tshirt places). It has an array of parks including a water park and children's playgrounds, it has a bunch of movie theatres, water ski shows, air boat and swamp buggy tours, deep sea or pier fishing, various boat cruises, and even Segway or trolley tours. "nothing to do there. I mean really nothing" -- are you kidding? What specifically are you looking to do that it doesn't have? Particularly what does Sanibel or Captiva have to do that you can't do in Naples? Don't get me wrong -- I agree that Captiva/Sanibel is a great place to do nothing. What I don't get is what I'm reading as a suggestion to go to Sanibel and Captiva BECAUSE there is nothing to do in Naples (and presumably there IS in Sanibel/Captiva). That simply makes no sense at all -- or did I misunderstand your post, birdergirl? |
