The Keys are a fishermen's paradise. You can catch sailfish, mahi, wahoo, tuna, amberjack, red grouper, black grouper, mangrove snapper, mutton snapper, yellowtail snapper, many types or sharks, snook, bonefish, tarpon, permit. And because it ain't a great place for marlin, you are making the assumption that it is "not as good as advertised"? Talk about tunnel vision. Listen, there are only a few spots IN THE WORLD that offer consistent chances of hooking a marlin on any given day. NONE of them are in the United States. If you husband is so dead set on catching a marlin, scrap your whole trip to Florida and head out of the country. If you don't want to do that, FORGET ABOUT MARLIN and have a great time fishing in the Keys for the extraordinary number of species we DO have. That being said, the best chance of catching a marlin in the Keys is NOT in Islamorada, it would be down at Key West in the middle of the summer.
