Thanks NYgirl, I knew I could count on you, you always have the best fashion advice. I just combed my closet and (horrors), there wasn't a stylish shoe to be found. You know what that means, it's time to go shopping.

Oh and Rudy'o, thanks for the vote of confidence - if you only knew!

Suburban Mom -- It's just at the tail end of sandal season since the high temps have been in the low 70's. However, closed toe slingbacks and mules are still perfectly acceptable. Given that the forecast is rain, you might want something closed like a loafer. I haven't seen anyone in boots yet.

Have a great trip!

OK, looking out my window (live near a college campus) and here's what I see:

Lots of jeans, cords with tight sweaters. Dark pants (not necessarily black) light or striped sweaters. Occasional hooded jacket . Flat shoes, sneakers, some platform sandals.

Knee length skirts with short jackets. Pointy toed pumps , bare legged.

A couple of men in dark conservative suits, umbrellas overhead.

This morning on the train, when it wasn't as wet and dreary outside as it is now, saw more sandals and people without jackets or umbrellas.

Haven't seen anyone in boots yet. It might be wet outside, but it's still too hot for boots.
as I said before, what does Stephanie know about what shoes to wear in NYC (she lives in Pa) and who in the world is wearing Mary Janes over the age of 6?
|
I own some very sexy Mary Janes.
|
Yeah? what is sexy about a pair of mary janes?
|
The patent leather Mary Janes are very sexy. Don't you know that Catholic schools banned them in the 50s and 60s, as the boys were using them to look up the girls' skirts.

There you are Coco! I just finished packing. I'm taking your advice and should be in Barneys by 1:00 pm. What better way to spend a rainy day then shoe shopping in my favorite splurge store!
|
SubMom: Can you believe they deleted my post?!?!?! Glad I could help - have a ball!
|
Coco, I was just about to say how disappointed I was that they deleted that snappy repertoire! You give good comeback - anyway, those of us who saw it appreciated it.

Thanks, I'm off to the city now, doing a no-rain dance all the way in.
|
Suburban Mom - I won't be here to hear how you fared but imagine you were terrific! An idea however - I simply don't accept that you needed all that help. I read all of it, and maybe you gleaned more than I. I do agree with the poster on the mary janes - I think my GF's are awfully nifty. But then, she's pretty with or without. Wa la!
|
rudy'o: What SubMom gleaned from this was: no boots, no sandals, mules are O.K., as well as sling-backs and a closed shoe. She should find the perfect pair(s) at Barneys.
Regarding Mary Janes: think the mother on "Six Feet Under" ugh!!!!
|
O, coco, take a diet coke and an aspirin, and relax a voo. Sub. mom is doing just great. I was kidding about the mary janes - i usually just smoke 'em. now lets not take ourselves too seriously, nest pah. there really are more interesting things than open versus closed toe! just my take from the midwest heartland.
|
NYGirl,
Coco honey, what a perfect analogy! Mom from Six Feet Under! LOL> It would take some sexy lady to overcome that foot!
I like the new rounded toe slightly high heels that I have been seeing. There is a pair that I think another Coco may have worn something similar to-black suede, high heel with small laces at the front, just a hint of "tie me up" :)
But for casual rainy days, leather loafer types, and even a pair of cool athletic shoes would be fine with a pair of straight leg, pants and a little rain jacket or trench.
Coco, will you be wearing fur this winter? I am taking a trip where the price of furs is not so bad, was wondering if I wanted a little fur around my neck this winter:)
|
Wow Rudy. You are in a LOT better mood today than you were yesterday. You're positively easygoing.
|
o wow, you are so in error. yesterday we laughed all day long about wa la, the indecisive hubbys and the lot. fine, fine mood. must now ring off - the kids are coming in and demand those little frozen things they see on tv. will try to catch up with you later, and wa la, for america's heartland. eat mo' corn!. and smoke 'em if you got 'em. may janes, :)))). wa la!
|
NYGirl: Well, it will probably start flying now, but I love fur!
|
NYGirl: ooops, forgot - regarding the shoe - YES!!! Reminiscent of Joan Crawford when she was hot hot hot in the 40's!
