Maggiwun, I just looked at all your photos on your site. So beautiful....... thanks for sharing, you are a good photographer! Are there photos of the inside of the beach house? Maybe I just missed them? Thought I remembered your mentioning in a post that there were inside photos? Thanks!

Sorry, Maggi! Just re-read this whole thread, and realized you had not posted inside photos. Thanks, anyway! Your #11 photo in the Kauai 2004 series is amazing!

Thanks, bonniebroad, for the kind remarks. Since a few people seem to be interested, I just added several pictures of the inside of the Anini Beach house to my Kauai 2004 webshots page (scroll down):

Thank you, Maggi! I can see that the place is very nice! :-)

Thank you Auntie Maria & Maggi for the tour info. I love movies and that sounds so fun but have a feeling it wouldn't be easy to sway my bf into it. Maggi, thanks for sharing your pics, they're great! I can't wait till I get to take some Kauai one's of my own.

Maggi:
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Thanks for the photos of the inside of the beach house. It really does look great. We'll be in Kauai for 7 nights and The Big Island for 5. For Kauai, we'd like to take the boat trip to see the Napali coast (with Napali Catamaran), a horseback riding excursion and the rest of the time to see the beaches on the North Shore and just relax. Has anyone taken the trip with Napali Catamaran (as recommended in the blue book)? Should I be concerned about seasickness? Had a bad experience sailing in the caribbean with rough seas and got very nauseous. Would prefer not to repeat. For now, though, we'll have to live through everyone else's trip reports. Thanks again. |
Longtail, we considered the catamaran but nixed it after finding that many people have severe motion sickness on that tour (my hubby is especially prone). I think it depends on what time of year you are going. The water is much choppier in the winter months, but it can even be choppy in the summer - it just depends on the day. Many people have avocated taking non-drowsy motion sickness pills, eating ginger, using wrist pressure bracelets, etc. There was thread about this awhile back, here it is (or type in motion sickness and highlight Hawaii as the topic):

Sorry, that link now does not work. Trying using the search window as I mentioned.

I think this one will work:

Maggi, thanks for the link. Very interesting. Hard to know which way to go with this one. I've had 2 experiences with boat trips no - one good, one bad. Went on a catamaran sunset cruise in Bermuda - mostly bay water, calm, no stops - and no seasickness. But last year, we went on an afternoon sail (not a catamaran, just small sailboat) in Antigua in rough waters. Spent most of this "romantic" ride with the sailboat on its side and high waves. I already had on the motion sickness wrist bands, but that didn't help. I was praying for the ride to end. There are many different boat trips in Kauai. Is there one that is easier on the stomach - power catamaran vs. sailing catamaran vs. rubber boat vs. power boat? I really hate to miss seeing the Na Pali coast, but don't want to ruin a day with seasickness.
