emoticons..help please

I know this will seem really stupid, but please could someone tell me where to access the smileys etc on the Fodor's site.
I can't find them anywhere.
Thank you very much.
Aileen

Great question as I have them and can email them but don't know how easily to add them to a message!

Thank you!! Now i know this makes me seem utterly brainless, but.... how do i add them?
I tried typing the ((L)) for a heart for example (wanted to use it to thank you ) but it came out as just that!
Does it make any difference that i use a mac?
Sorry!

Check if your smiley codes work by clicking &quot;<font color="blue">PREVIEW MY REPLY<font color="black">&quot; before clicking &quot;<font color="blue">POST MY REPLY<font color="black">&quot;

Oh how stupid i look now!!
When I previewed my reply in my previous post, the heart just appeared as the brackets with an L in the centre, but lo and behold it DID appear as a heart in my post after all!!
Many thanks,
Aileen ((F)) ((F))

I still don't see how you find the smileys without clicking on John D's link, which I can't when I'm typing a reply. How do I get to a smiley when I'm typing in this box?

LoveItaly Mar 31st, 2006 12:34 PM

gotribe, I believe I understand your question and if so here is what I do. I have the website for Fodor's smileys bookmarked. When I am typing a post (as I am doing right now) and want to insert an emoticon I merely click Favorites and go to the Bookmarked Fodor's smiley's website. Find the emoticon I want to use, look at what needs to be typed, click the Back button which takes me back to the Fodor's Board and the box I am typing in. I than type in the proper symbols for the emoticon.

Am sure there are better ways to do this but the way I do it works for me.

jamaltay Mar 31st, 2006 12:58 PM

LoveItaly,

That is how I do it also. I guess one could print out the emoticon page and keep it nearby.

Oh, OK. I don't think I'll bother, but thanks.

ronkala Mar 31st, 2006 02:35 PM

LoveItaly,
Thanks, that's great idea. I was going to print a copy, but my color copier is not working. :-)

utahtea Mar 31st, 2006 03:08 PM

((I)) I open two brower windows to see the smilies and post at the same ((o)).

Hi ronkala, printing out the emoticons is what I originally did but than you either have to pull it out of a drawer when you need it or have it laying on the desk and I am sort anal about having papers laying around LOL. Than one day the ((I)) went off.

mclaurie Mar 31st, 2006 03:43 PM

If you've got the emoticons booked, you can open them in a different window, copy and paste the necessary marks. :-D
