So many gorgeous places and choices. I think I gained 5 lbs just looking at them all! We have thought of the hot air balloon ride also!

EMD at very least Sedona Chamber of Commerce should take you on staff! I look forward to letting you know our decisions! Happy travels to all!

Some day when I retire I will move there (for part of the year, the 7 nice months) and get involved in the community and volunteer. And amwosu and I will visit each other in Phoenix and Sedona.

amwosu May 28th, 2006 04:21 AM

I'm flying out next Tuesday. Depending on how hot Scottsdale is we may take our bikes up to Sedona for a few days. I'm going to check out some of your restaurant choices myself!

Looks like emd has passed along good advice. We are much older but enjoyed Sedona last March. One idea regarding a B&B which would also be a lovely wedding site: Grace's Secret Garden B&B on Jacks Canyon Rd. This is some dozen miles south of the Y. I guarantee you that in this delightful place hostess Grace Markuszewski would treat you like royalty! www.gracessecretgarden.com

I looked at Grace's B&B a few months ago and it looks like a truly excellen place to stay if you like B&Bs. Reviews are excellent on tripadvisor. I can't get Grace's website to come up.

Thanks, yes in June it will be 53 years! Many memories of summer traveling/camping with three little kids. As for Grace's I could picture a lovely wedding in her back garden! She has a modern home with wonderful red rock vista, top notch breakfasts. Also one night some of us had a cookout.
This Polish-born gal will be very motherly and accomodating...contact at [email protected], or the phone number. $140 per night as I recall...three rooms.

Congratulations Bill! That's a wonderful thought to be married 52 years and counting. :)

You hit a soft spot when you said this nice Polish gal, my finace's family is of Polish origin, he speaks fluently, he'd just be thrilled I'm certain. I'll surely take a look at the information. If nothing else I'm sure we'll stop for chat! Thank you for your input and kind wishes. :)

Although I could not get into her exact site to load, there are many great pictures and reviews on the web of this Inn. The descriptions are of this Polish lady, who apparently gets up to make breakfast for people at 5 am (although her usual breakfast doesn't start til much later) because they are leaving for the Grand Canyon day trip, and then she packs them a lunch for the road! People just gush about how special she is. The grounds and views from her place look amazing.

Yeah, Grace does get up very early and fixes tremendous breakfasts. Very domestic and motherly...husband travels. They purchased this lovely scenic home after they came to Chicago from Poland. She is from Poznan area BTW same as my wife's grandmother.
We stayed three nights early March.

Sedona is a neat place with lots of eating places, art stores. Just go to Tlaquepaque...we at outdoors at Secret Garden there. I suspect it might be crowded in summer, don't know.

I was just there two weeks ago and wish I could afford to live there always! Yes, the drive to the North Rim is worth it but like someone suggested, get reservations tonight. The South Rim is nice but very crowded, even in mid May, so the extra miles are worth the solitude! North Rim won't be as posh as a B&B but a tiny cabin is so romantic for a honeymoon if you are into no AC, no TV and no radio, just your new spouse, deer, birds, and that beautiful Canyon! Nothing is as quiet as sitting on the Lodge's veranda and just listening to nature. Since it's so much higher at the North Rim, you don't need the AC and we went in late July! Sedona will however be very hot, it was already in the high 90's on Mother's Day! Holy Cross is a must see! We love the red rocks but the main drag has gotten a bit too turisty and is now under major construction and repairs. Some of the other places suggested are great and you will fall in love with Sedona just like everyone who even just passes through!
Best Wishes!

I'm on to speaking with Grace, as we're considering all the details. Thank you for the suggestion. Yes, we do have reservations up at the North Rim in Mid Sept. We are flying into Las Vegas for a one night stint, then on to the North Rim then down to Sedona for the ceremony, etc returning out of Phoenix. Thank you to everyone for all the good suggestions and wishes.

Turista - thanks for your thoughts on the North Rim, solitude is the name of the game as we prefer "off the beaten path" places. We are already booked into the North Rim Lodge for 2 nights in mid Sept. We'll be driving there from Las Vegas, then down to Sedona. Much appreciated!
