Dressing alike?
 

Do you? Why not? What exactly do you and your spouse have against - (or reason for) - wearing (for instance) the exact same kelly green GBPacker windbreaker/T-shirt/sweatshirt?

Is it a way to spot one another across a crowded piazza? (Travel-(and NYC Broadway)-related aspect noted here, please.)

What about matching Rugby shirts - even with a RL logo? And....thanks to our recent Finland poster, one has to ask: if you both wear socks with your sandals...just what color/style socks would they be?

It's one thing to pick up the Sunday NYT and see a plethora of wimmen strutting about town, meeting their mirror images at every intersection, but are you, on the "other" coasts (and in between) also treated to disasterously and oh-so-dually-dressed, wedded pairs decked out in matching duds?

Or, is this just a Midwestern/mid-life phenomenon?

LOL, this is SO funny!
My husband and I have often started to leave the house and one of us ( me) notices the other is wearing the same color combination , I make him change! LOL
We have seen this on our travels though, when older, much older, couples wear little red windbreakers or the same sweatshirt and hats..I think it is sweet but you will not find us doing that..ever..ever..lol
Although it can be difficult, being from NYC, we often wear a lot of black or black and white ~

Think positively. This is a sign that some midwestern women have stopped wearing sweatshirts appliqued with cats.

You know, tuckerdc, I am thinking of the couples here in Florida that have the same haircuts also..Now that needs some looking into!

Take a chance when you move to Portland and go bold. With black, you may fade into the northwest fog. I have been feeling mid-life invisibility lately, but today, I screwed up my courage and, for the first time, wore the deep red clogs that I bought last year. People noticed my feet! Could they say, "PU, ugly shoes!" No, they could not. They said, instead, "Wow! Those are great shoes!"

Go for it Scarlett! Go bright! Go bold! Be a beacon in the darkness!

And, no tuckerdc, my husband didn't put on red shoes. Maybe I should get him some for his birthday. hahaha.

Mr.GoTravel and I dress alike all the time by accident. Mostly it because we are both in head to toe black or a black turtleneck and jeans (winter).

Haircuts, too!!!??? Oh no! Scarlett, this is something I'm going to have to start watching for.

And wsoxrebel, if you think those cat-appliqued shirts have gone to the back of the closet....you're just not getting out in the right (tourist) hot spots!

(Orcas: Despite the possession of feet that only Fats Waller could love, I splurged on some red Munro sandals last year...and love 'em!)

Is there some particular reason why you are restricting this "enquiring minds want to know" question to people who are married or is that some sort of "midwestern/mid-life phenomenon" also???????????

Not only dressing alike, but have you noticed that in so many instances, the longer a couple is married the more they begin to LOOK alike? Scarey, if you ask me!

OK, Orcas, I will bring all my Florida colors with me and see if I blend in or stand out in a field of black :)
I think we are still not looking Like Each Other LOL but maybe, we can still have that to look forward to in our future.

dressing alike is the scurge of the heterosexual population. Who wants clowns, I mean clones?

When on a cruise a couple of years ago we saw a little elderly couple, both probably in their eighties and both dressed identical, head to toe in all white,(she wore a trouser suit,not he a dress!) they also had white hair.They looked so cute! but the best was in Hawaii. We saw a family of 2 adults and 3 children, all coming out of Hilo Hatties and all wearing identical Hawaiian shirts!My husband was horrified!

The day I need a color coded sweater to enable me to spot my wife anywhere is the day I need to get cataract surgery.

I can spot her from the angle of her head.

The Hilo Hattie story reminds me of pictures I've seen of my mom and all eight of her brothers and sisters wearing the same striped t-shirts for the Fourth of July celebrations in their community.

Of course, with nine kids, maybe my grandma needed them all to wear the same shirt so she could spot them!

Gee, I hope I will never live to get dressed like my husband! He is from Mars, I am... from Former Soviet Union :) Why would we want to look alike? Unless it's the same gender, vive la difference!

I actually had a friend back in Florida whose parents PURPOSELY dressed alike. I remember seeing them at the polling place in coordinating outfits of red, white and blue. I am NOT making this up!! Yick!


As for me, on occasion my husband and I end up wearing the same thing--either khakis or jeans, usually w/a black top...Like Scarlett, I ask him to change v me finding something else to wear--it gets us out the door faster this way ;)

More often, I accidently dress like my friends--we all tend to favor black outfits.

I say bring it on, I need a good laugh after a long day work. People in matching kelly green GBPackers sweatshirts should know better to come down here like that (Chicago) without expected to be laughed at behind their backs, yet they do all the time. I swear we are the mecca for well coordinated midwestern couples. :)
