I love US geography...yet i made one really silly mistake but here are my results:

90%
Average error: 20 miles
Time: 242 seconds

Ryan Mar 15th, 2005 11:48 AM

On average I was 18 miles off. I suspect the order the states come up influences the final score.

For bonus points they should make you put the right capital in each state.

Marilyn Mar 15th, 2005 11:52 AM

Yes, Ryan, the order of the states definitely has an impact. I got Kansas for my 1st state -- whew! A square-ish state in the middle of the country -- tough.
Capitals would be hard. Would you have to name them AND place them?

beachbum Mar 15th, 2005 12:02 PM

This link was posted on a thread a couple months ago. I did much better this time around; 98% and average error of 1 mile.

mclaurie Mar 15th, 2005 12:02 PM

Fun Marilyn. I only got an 88% but it became more like a jigsaw puzzle ;) This reminded me of my nightmare 9th grade geography test. We were given a blank map of the US and had to fill in the states AND the capitals.

Marilyn Mar 15th, 2005 12:03 PM

Sorry, beachbum. I didn't see it then. :-(

neworleanslady Mar 15th, 2005 12:03 PM

Wow... I almost missed Hawaii. I thought it was further out. :-d
I did too bad to post...

beachbum Mar 15th, 2005 12:10 PM

No need to apologize, Marilyn. I love this stuff. Just thought I should qualify my score.

Iowa, Illinois and Indiana always have confused me.

92% - Avg Error 10 miles

Placing Rhode Island early did me in:(

Most of the seconds and error came on my second state--Wyoming! Without anything else in place (except Delaware) it was tricky to place. The rest of my placements were right on, so I spent my time working my way down from Wyoming's bad location.

Eeva Mar 15th, 2005 02:31 PM

96% 8 miles average error but it took me 400 seconds because my 13 year old was telling me to get off the computer because she needed to go to an eye appt.

Actually I am a geography teacher :-D so I really should have done better. Kansa early on threw me.
