Yes and it is called Off Season.

We figure out where we want to go and book off season.

Camping in Yosemite is one. A weekend in Catalina is another. Almost every year, I should say. Used up all my vacation time in Italy this summer, but we're ready for next year!

luv,

Inexpensive flights depend on where from and to. I fly out of O'Hare almost exclusively and since there is significant competition, I can often get good prices. I have a BIL in Palm Springs that we visit once a year or so. I can fly into LAX for around 180 RT/NS which I consider a bargain. Of course I have to then drive about 3 hours to get out to the desert which I am OK with. If I fly into Palm Springs it can be double that or even more.

So.....it all depends!

Surfergirl,

Where do you stay on Catalina "that isn't costly"... I'm heading for LA in Nov. to hang out with an ole high school friend and we'll be going to Palm Desert for a few days, and Catalina for a few.

Curious.

I thought that this would be a discussion about US destinations only, but others have posted foreign destinations, so I think I'm allowed to talk about Thailand. :-)

Beautiful country, full of history, beautiful beaches and extremely cheap. Airfare is the biggest expense, but there are seasonal sales that will get you there from the east coast for ~$600-700. 5* hotels could be had for under $150 per night(Peninsula, Conrad, Hyatt, etc). Spas are just wonderful and very cheap. Great cheap food. Cheap transportation around the country and the neighboring countries as well.

Going again next month. :-D
