Since our dinner reservations are at 8:00pm we will have time for at least 2 maybe 3 workout sessions.
O:) O:-) ((A)) ((a))

Kal, you are always a card. I'm afraid to ask what sort of workout, the one fisted aluminum pull, or the always dreadful recliner crunches??

After reading karens' post, I think we need a Christmas goodies thread!

Hahahaha...Squats, thrusts, curls...all the basic "lifting moves". We like the cardio but sometimes you get the best results from a lot of short, quick work outs...kick in the fast twitch muscles. :-"

A brisk walk after dinner. Our dinner is about 2, so it's not too cold here in Nebraska until after dark. We're much to busy in the morning getting everything prepared.

and...I'm sure there will be a double work out in order for Friday ....:)
LOL, have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Kal....how did you manage to talk your other half into eating out... I've tried that for the past five years and it does't work...I'm getting tired.

Kal Nov 23rd, 2004 07:04 AM

P'Mom,
Our wedding anniv falls right around T'giving so it's a good excuse to get away.

Plus, Mrs K comes from a BIG family so as spouses and children were slowy added, it got BIGGER and LOUDER and we're too low keyed to be keyed up for what is supposed to be an enjoyable setting....

So in other words...I got really drunk one time, passed out in the gravy, started snoring gravy bubbles and the in laws asked me not to come again.:O)

If anyone wants to know what I was drinking to pull this off, feel free to drop me a line. ;)

Grasshopper Nov 23rd, 2004 07:09 AM

Gravy bubbles! :-D

Okay, I confess to ordering a chocolate mousse pie from my favorite caterer(there's no way I could ever come close to making this). My family isn't big on pumpkin, so this will be a pleaser.
To compensate for the splurge, I'm cutting back today and tomorrow. Lots of spinach salad and such.. I am going to enjoy my meal on Thursday..will buy wine today, which I'm looking forward to as well. Cheers, J.

The average American gains about a pound a year between Thanksgiving and New Year's. I personally eat like a horse and gain about two pounds a year. I make it a point to walk a lot more in January and February and manage to walk it all off (and a little more) by Valentine's Day.

I can't imagine putting a damper on Thanksgiving Dinner by worrying about the calories. The stress of the worrying alone would be worse for your heart than anything that you could eat.

Chill out over the holidays! If you were to get hit by a truck on Monday, your last thoughts would be of that darn piece of pumpkin pie that you didn't eat, not of that 250 extra calories that you didn't work off in the gym.

I will be WAY too sore to exercise, after sleeping on that sagging, 40-year old guest bed with the springs poking through...

jetset1 Nov 23rd, 2004 10:39 AM

This post was really meant to be light hearted, just for fun. I'm not on the fitness preaching bandwagon. Prior posts have already addressed those things, like charging for extra seats due to size, why Americans are ..well, "so fat".
I know I am personally grateful for many things this year, and I hope everyone here can enjoy a great Thanksgiving weekend and not sweat the small stuff for a few days:)

Well KAL.. if I work it right...I'll be on the high seas for next Thanksgiving....The only thing I would miss eating out is putting together a turkey soup that I can pull out of the freezer on a cold and snowy night...We do try go get away to the tropics for Valentines Day though...and February 2005 will be no exception..drinking pina coladas, and a romantic warm evening....dining al fresco...life doesn't get better than that.

flyert Nov 23rd, 2004 12:28 PM

I do a Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning as well. Not only does it provide some exercise but it also keeps you from sleeping in too late.

Put me on the list of those who might not be fun to "dine with", but just about every year I cook the family dinner and go out for a 6-8 mile run in the morning, right after sticking the bird in the oven. It's a great reason to meet friends for a social hour on the holiday whom I won't have dinner with that day...so it's kind of a double treat...friends in the a.m., family in the p.m. and sometimes the former is a better get-together ;)

This year, I didn't do the cooking, we were in S.A. and while there was a 4-mile Turkey Trot race there that we really had intended to do, we did sleep in, take a riverwalk cruise instead, and in between the huge buffet breakfast and then the buffet dinner at 4:00, ran 6 miles on the hotel treadmill :)
