Dining in Midtown (West)

I am staying overnight in New York City for business with my husband. Any suggestions on a nice dinner (romantic, formal and good food) not overpriced, or is this entirely impossible in the City?

I'm not sure "formal" and "not overpriced" go together in any city! Would a business-casual type of bistro or something like that be acceptable?

Following up on the previous post, how much do you want to spend? What part of midtown (west)?

I am staying at the Marriot Marquis on Broadway. I am willing to spend up to $100 for dinner and we are not really big drinkers so wine list is not all that important. Also any breakfast places other than the hotel in the area. <BR>Appreciate any help.

I would recommend my favorite NYC restaurant, Chez Josephine on 42nd Street, just west of 9th Avenue, a 5-6 block walk from the hotel. $100 should cover dinner and tip, especially if you're not drinking. It's a French restaurant owned by two of Josephine Baker's rainbow children. One of them, Jean-Claude is the host and meeting him is part of the charm of the restaurant. Reservations a must (212-594-1925).
