D.C. restaurants for families.

Hello: Seeking advice from D.C. locals or travelers with families who had visited recently. I know from past travel in the U.S., many of the restaurants listed in travel books or online are often more hype than substance.
My wife and I and nine y/o daughter are visiting D.C. for Easter weekend. Besides the usual pizza and American comfort food, where can a family get a good meal that is in the moderate price range ?
Thank you and happy holidays,
Jrsaf.

Chinatown has many decent places, most are reasonable in price. There is also a Mongolian Grill there that kids find fun.

The cafeteria in the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian is also a good choice for lunch. It is arranged in regions that have differing Am In foods, e.g., plains, pacific northwest, Central America, etc. They are all different and everyone should find something they like.

There is the Tortilla Coast for good Mexican food, at 400 1st St SE, (one block south of the Capitol Metro stop). At Union station there is a large food court and other many other mid priced restaurants. On the Mezzanine Level there is a place called Pizzaria Uno that offers a lot more variety of foods than just Pizza. If you take the Metro to King Street Station in Alexandria and walk east about 7 blocks or so east, there's a great Greek place celled Taverena Cretekou at 818 King Street. In the vicnity of the L'enfant Plaza Metro stop, (a block away from the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum), there is a large group of food trucks during mid day, during the week that offer a large variety of foods, all very reasonable.

We liked Merzi (sort of like a Chipotle, but with Indian food). There's a great gelato shop right next door. www.merzi.com
