I think I forgot to mention that the bathroom in our suite at the Columbia Gorge (or perhaps appropriately called "Gouge" by tylarue) Hotel was freezing cold. No, I wouldn't go back there. My favourite stay in Oregon so far was at the Campbell House Inn in Eugene. The service, room and breakfast were all good.

April - question on Eugene - what is there to see or do there? My husband is a runner and wanted to see it on our way from Bend to the coast.

Eugene is a nice enough city, but apart from the University, really has nothing to distinguish it. You might tour the campus to see what (Phil Knight's) money can buy/build. Or, your husband might want to join the hosts of others on their daily run along the Willamette River.
