I posted the original question. Am looking at Charleston Harbor in Mt Pleasant due to water accessibility or Holiday Inn in Historic area. Has anyone stayed at either?

What, the resorts at Patriot's Point, with water shuttle, are not mid-priced, but they are beautiful and the water shuttle a great perk. We just stayed at the Hampton Inn Patriot's Point, and it was nice, especially for the money, BUT finding parking in the historic district was such a pain (during Tall Ships weekend just past) that we've decided we'll stay in the historic district next time, if there's anything special going on. In less busy times, staying across the bridge and finding parking in the historic district is not a problem for us.

(Be sure to eat at Magnolia's and S.N.O.B. while you're there ... :-) )

what, do you have a boat? I'm confused about your question about water accessability.

I will say this, if you are sightseeing downtown, stay downtown.

I've stayed at what was the Hilton Patriots Point at the marina (not in the hotel, we stayed on the boat) and it was nice.

There is a water taxi (currently $8 round trip) that can take you from Patriot's Point, near the Hilton) to Charleston. It docks in a very convenient spot to see the sights of Charleston. Also a great restaurant in Charleston, on the water, called Fleet Landing that is definitely a must if only for a drink.
