Can't read the map??

Target's $1 spot is currently featuring reading glasses. For a buck! Stock up now.

Trust me: the glasses are not the reason you can't read the map!

First of all, make sure your map is not upside down.

Faina, LOL, and so true!

CAPH52 Mar 5th, 2005 12:26 PM

Wish I'd seen this before I went to Target! I love having pairs of cheap reading glasses tucked in my purse, in the car, by the bed, etc. My eye doctor says there's absolutely no problem with "drugstore" glasses as long as I get regular check ups. And I find that with reading glasses, because you're constantly taking them off and on, it's far too easy to lose an expensive pair. And this is one more post ttt to move down the offending one!

I carry a small credit card size (and that thick) magnifying glass to use on maps when I travel....soemtimes the galsses aren't enought w/those tiny maps.

LoveItaly Mar 5th, 2005 03:37 PM

emd, I usually need a magnifying glass for most maps too. Irritating, isn't it?

seetheworld Mar 5th, 2005 03:38 PM

I tried using the drugstore readers but they only made me dizzy. So I had to get perscription readers but they really do not help me with my poor map reading skills!

I've worn glasses since 4th grade and finally this makes me happy. At 40 I had to start taking my glasses off to read. Hah!

seetheworld Mar 5th, 2005 04:36 PM

Shaz, I hate to break it to you, but that was the beginning of the end for me. Now I have two pairs of glasses!

Bifocals, ugh...still need to take them off to read little stuff!

seetheworld Mar 5th, 2005 05:17 PM

I opted not to get progressive lenses. But I have to say, it's a real pain to switch glasses all the time.

I have a pair for distance, a pair for computer, and to read, maps included, I take the glasses off. I wonder how people wearing contacts manage all 3! And after Lasik, are your eyes flexible enough for distance and reading?

ccolor Mar 7th, 2005 01:51 AM

Re FainaAgain: It depends on the kind of Lasik you have - when I had mine done there were options for having one eye done for nearsighted viewing and one for farsighted, but my poor pea brain couldn't handle that one. I went with the norm and love it, but have reading glasses all over the house and work.

Just wanted to thank tuckerdc for this post. Found 'em at Target yesterday!

BabsB Mar 7th, 2005 04:01 PM

Heck, I can read the map. I just can't figure out where I am or where I want to go! :)

A dollar?!?... wow, and I thought I got quite a deal at the grocery store paying $9.99 two years ago for a nerdy pair. Looks like I'll be heading to Target--thanks for the tip :-)
