suze, I didn't care much for Cancun but loved the hotel where we stayed - The Ritz Carlton.

I love the scenery in Cabo. I love the golf in Cabo. I love the small hotels there that are some of the finest in the world. And, probably most of all, I love driving to Cabo. It's one of the world's greatest drives.

Another tip, if you are going to stay more than a week in Cabo, try finding a house in the Pedregal. This would change your perception of "desert scenery".

I would agree w/the person that said to repost this on the Latin America board. Here's something to to throw out for you to do research on -- look into Playa Del Carmen.

It's a town about an hour south of Cancun -- so it's go the white sands and the blue waters. And while there are tons of places to eat and drink and dance -- it doesn't have a spring break vibe or clientel the way Cancun does. It also is not all American -- lots of people from all over the world.

It has a variety of lodgings from hostels to boutique hotels to big AIs. I will admit -- I haven't gone there yet (I'm booked for a week in July) but I've done a lot of research.

Trip advisor.com has a particularily active playa del carmen board.
