Great!!! Getting lodging inside Bryce usually takes some work.

Now thast you're staying in-park, plan on seeing the sunrise at Bryce Point (that's one of the premier places). It's not a very long drive from the Lodge.

As far as the observation points are concerned, the ones of interest are Sunrise Point (the end of the Queen's Garden trail), Sunset Point (the start of the Navajo Loop trail), Bryce Point, Natural bridge and possibly Inspiration Point.

I wouldn't bother going beyond Natural Bridge.

Have fun.

Glad you got a spot inside Bryce. We stayed in a Western Cabin in late August and definitely didn't need A/C. Think we even wore fleece jackets in the morning.

If you haven't booked in Springdale yet, you might want to try one of Flanigan's suites. We had a two bedroom suite plus living room and it might work well with your family set up. No cooking facilities but a mini fridge.

We stayed in the Zion lodge and loved it! There was A/C--it would be a nightmare without it as the temps get very high. The park is very busy during the day, but it feels totally different at night and early in the morning. I saw my first and only porcupine one morning outside our room. Getting around Zion requires bus travel. It is awfully nice to already be in the park without having to deal with that.

We leave on May 6 for our trip to Utah with Zion as our first stop. My rooms have been booked, but I was only able to book one night in the park for our stay in Bryce. My back up was Ruby's Inn. I read Meyers post that said "There's a good chance the lodge at Bryce is fully booked.
Don't give up.
Call daily or twice daily. They may tell you cancellations are few.
I don't believe that."
Well, after heeding his advice and calling Bryce at least once a day, I hit the jackpot and have a cabin in the park for all the days I need. It was getting close, but it all worked out. Thanks Meyer for your multiple postings that said CALL, CALL, CALL!!!! I'm am so pleased with myself!!

Allison,

I'm glad it worked out.

From what I understand, the bus tours book blocks of rooms way in advance. Then they start to release them in the last month when they're not fully booked.
