My teenage daughter and I have seen
Spamalot, Wicked, Hairspray, Avenue Q, The Wedding Singer (preview in Seattle) you can't go wrong with any of these. They are all funny and a good nights entertainment. Last summer to get tickets to Avenue Q we went to the theatre the day of the show and they only had single seats and we bought three singles. They turned out to be wonderful seats. Have a wonderful time with your kids! I have such a good time we go to NYC every summer from Washington state! |
I can't believe that kids of this age have never seen the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. (Spamalot) My teenagers know it by heart!

My 16 year old daughter and I have recently seen Mama Mia. We both loved it. The music is just great!

I just got back from a trip with my 13 year old daughter and the top choices would be RENT, LESTAT and AVENUE Q. She liked Lestat, then Rent and then Avenue Q the best. There are pretty adult topics so it depends how much sexual content the youngest has been exposed to. With movies are even TV shows more kids know a lot more then they used too. My daughter loved Rent the movie and loved Rent the play even more. Avenue Q is especially good for those about ready to get out of college and has a pretty adult theme and full puppet nudity. It's an adult version of Sesame Street. My daughter said I gasped at a few parts. It did lead to some intersting discussions with her and rounded out the "talk".
For more plays with a more appropriate theme Wicked (we saw it in Chicago and loved it) and Hairsray was a lot of fun but my daughter rates Hairspray under the first three I mentioned. Wicked is very expensive to see and make sure you sign up at www.playbill.com and www.theatermania.com for discount tickets to the others. Spamalot is another popular play with no discounts and we didn't see it and the line to get cancellation tickets was always long. |
I have heard nothing but good things about Wicked. I just got tickets for July, but they were almost all gone, so hurry and get yours if you decide to go to that one!

"I have heard nothing but good things about Wicked."
Not so sure. We have one regular theatre poster and expert here who has mentioned numerous times he and his family were not impressed by Wicked at all. But even he has admitted he seems to be in a minority on the subject. |
