We live in Isle of Palms (near Charleston). Will support all of those who recommend staying in MB for guys of your age. Absolute NO to Hilton Head! Also, don't see what you might enjoy in Georgetown - but Mullet's Inlet (LOVED that one!!!)... does have some real down-home seafood places.

Charleston is chock full of good bars and fun places. Check out the Thursday Preview section of the Post and Courier:

Also, if you get on the site, check out the Tips for Tourists.

I also recommend that you do the last DAY in Savannah. You'll be "historied" out by the time you leave Charleston. Savannah is such a wonderful city, but it's a lot of the same stuff that Charleston has to offer (on a smaller scale).

Sounds like you'll be having lot of fun..

You've prompted me to become a "Fodorite!" You'll enjoy Myrtle Beach area for two noghts - lots of things to do. And Charleston is amazing! Remember to peek through all of the gates into the back yards - they are real treasures! Also, I agree on Magnolia's being a great place to eat. Have a great trip!

All I can say is thanks again... this is giving me a lot to think about, and I think we're going to have a great trip as a result!
