Best Western Landmark New Orleans
Does anyone have a view on the Best Western Landmark Hotel in New Orleans. The week that we are going is virtually booked, and this seems to be the best out of what is left that does not cost $300.00 a night.
The Best Western Landmark is in Metarie, not New Orleans.
My reservations say that it is New Orleans on Rampart St.
Gosh, then I'm completely wrong. I looked it up on google.com and it said it was near the NO airport in Metarie. Hopefully, someone else will give you better information.
Hi, the Landmark is in Metarie on Severn Avenue.
There is a Landmark on Rampart. I don't like that street at all so take a cab at night. The hotel is typical motel, I think, but it is near everything and is cheap so you'll be okay.
Rampart Street is on the border of the French Quarter. The BW is on the French Quarter side of this very busy street. Cross to the other side and you are no longer in the Quarter, but a less desireable neighborhood. There are several restaurants and clubs on Rampart Street, including Peristyle just down the street from the BW. I dont think you will feel unsafe here on this busy street. The surrounding neighborhood on the French Quarter side is more residential than the Bourbon, Royal Decatur Street parts, and subsequently a little quieter and less trafficked, but you will be within walking distance of all these streets.

Would you stay there?
Havent seen any of the rooms, but I would stay there based on its appearance from the outside.
Do yourself a favour - stay at a bed & breakfast - beautiful architecture - great breakfasts - the hosts are so-o-o-o friendly and will bend over backwards with their recommendations, etc. to make sure you have a great vacation. Lots to choose from (see b&b directory on Fodor's hotel page). FYI, we stayed at La Maison Marigny ((Bourbon & Esplanade)-Very reasonable ps: everything in the french quarter is extremely walkable - have a great time!
PS: Wherever you book, make sure it's IN THE FRENCH QUARTER. I don't think the neighbourhoods outside of the Quarter are very safe by night. Quarter is very safe - no worries
How about the Dauphine Orleans?
I like the B&B idea too if that weekend isn't sold out. We stayed at a place called Maison Minou on Dauphine. Highly recommend it!
We always stay in B&B's and wanted a change, I have always wanted to stay in one of the Boutique Hotels in New Orleans, and my husband wants to stay in the French Quarter.
Try International House. Small and boutique but near Qtr. Not sure of price.
the Best Western is by no means a boutique hotel. More like a motel. I would stay there if nothing else in the Quarter were available, but there a plenty of other places I would rather stay.
Stayed there several years back, the hotel itself is OK, but the walk from Bourbon St. to Ramparts is through streets that are poorly lit and don't feel safe at night. The Landmark is only technically in the Quarter, has none of the same feel as in the central part. A moderate I like in the Quarter is the Chateau Hotel - much closer to the action so you don't have to walk dark streets. I visit NO almost every year for a conference, and something I did one year when I couldn't get a room is stayed in Gretna - across the Mississippi bridge, and drove over. Motels in Gretna have "normal" prices. Not the same as a great spot in the Quarter, but I'd stay there before I'd stay at the Landmark. Another choice is some of the hotels across Canal St. in what I think is called the warehouse district, then utilize cabs etc., instead of walking.
There is a Best Western Landmark in Metairie ...and a Best Western FRENCH QUARTER LANDMARK...

talk about confusing!
The Dauphine Orleans would be better (we love staying there), but I would stay on Rampart if nothing else were available (affordable).
My husband and I stayed there last yr. If your not looking for anything fancy its fine. Just figure the room to be like any other Best Western. Just a tip if you plan on using the shuttle to the french qrts. it gets booked really quick and you should sign up first thing in the a.m i think they start booking at 7.
