Best Steakhouse in NYC
Which is the best steakhouse for your money in Manhattan? Nothing fancy just good steak!
Thanks. |
My own personal favorite is MarkJoseph downtown, on Water St. I have a friend who LOVES Cite, in midtown.

This subject has been covered many, many times. If you do a search, you'll get more opinions than you ever dreamed possible!
(A lot of feel that's worth a trip to Brooklyn to Peter Luger's for the best steak in the \city.) |
As well as a search here (steak AND NYC) go to chowhound.com where the foodies hang out :)

Sparks! Top notch and a price to match. Lots of history. Convenient eastside midtown location.

Made reservations at Keens. Any thoughts on this steakhouse? Reservations for tomorrow night....

I personally like the Palm and
Smith & Wollensky. They are a little pricey but the steaks are huge and i share with someone else. I have been to Peter Lugar's and did not feel like the trek out to Brooklyn on the subway was worth the $35 steak. The steak was fine but the atmosphere is kind of dingy - food spotted menus, no tablecloths, chipped furniture. A lot of people like this as part of the charm i guess. I just personally did not. If you want something classy but down to earth, I would say The Palm. |
We've been to Keen's and really enjoyed it. The food is great (not many other choices near the Garden, either) and the decor is actually nice -- especially compared to many of the other steakhouses. I think you'll like it.

Thanks everyone. I am so excited to get out of this rain in Minneapolis! I am so intrigued by the pipe thing at Keens. I might try the Palm on Thurs. Can never go wrong with a good steak! :)

Is there still a place called Dallas? We went there when dating. Huge portions and cheap.

You know, Carp, another idea might be Cite. A little fancy for a steakhouse, but they have this GREAT prix-fixe wine dinner. You have to sit AFTER 8 pm (curtain time) and you basically get the choice of the menu for appetizer, entree and dessert, plus all the wine you can drink. That's right, all the wine you can drink. They pour a champagne for apperitif, a white for appetizer and a red throughout dinner. The wines are good and they don't chintz. I forget the price, but if you like wine (and don't have to drive!) it's a good deal. They are located in the 50's off 6th Ave. Plus, it's a very nice atmosphere and the service is good.
