Obviously most of you have not been to the Minnesota star fair. Although this fair only goes on for twelve days and Texas goes on for much much longer Minnesota is a very clean friendly place. We have food everywhere concerts every night two huge midways with rides and games. Live newscasts a couple big barns full of tons of animals a birthing barn where you can see baby animals and maybe even see them birthed. Salesman all in one area. Skateboard competitions and much much more you would have to come and see for yourself!

Andy,
just so you know this post is dated 2001.

But hey, Texas is the best State Fair. Nothing else is even close, IMOP

Alas,The Los Angeles County Fair as described in this old post has changed for the worse. They no longer have livestock competitions.
This is why I'm cashing in my FF miles and going to Minnesota in August.

Minnesota's is the best by far!! I'm a state fair junky and have been to state fairs in Iowa, Texas, California, Oklahoma, Illinois, Kansas, New York, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ohio. Minnesota's fair is an epic experience. The entire atmosphere of that fair is unique. You just love to hang out there. I could spend a week at the MN state fair and never be bored. The food, activities, entertainment, exhibits (be sure to check out machinery hill, the international bazaar, and the miracle of birth barn), educational buildings, livestock exhibits, coliseum events, and world class concerts in the grandstand are epic! Trust me, the MN State Fair is the best in the U.S. by a long shot. Texas, Wisconsin, and Iowa come in a distant 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, respectively, in my opinion.

Do they have a "butter cow"????

We have gone to the Texas State Fair every year since 1989, (except 1992 when I was 8 months pregnant and it was still 90 degrees). I would love to go to the Minnesota state fair to compare.

You can't beat the Minnesota State fair for original food - http://www.mnstatefair.org/fun/new_food.

@Dukey1, they have "butter beauties" instead. Each year a dairy princess is crowned and a likeness of her is carved in butter by an artist.

...and don't forget to get some deep fried cheese curds, Sweet Martha's cookies, a Pronto Pup, and deep fried sweet corn!!
