This is the plan thus far. Thanks to all of your suggestions. 3 nights Inn at Manzanita moving down to Sylvia Beach Hotel ea Quest at Yachats for two nights. That way we can explore north and south of each place we're staying. Whadda
think? Now the last night before heading out I'm looking for a great place not too far from Portland. Youngberg Inn was suggested. Any other ideas? Sounds like a wonderful time to me. I can always tweek a night here, a night there...the Ziggaurat sounds amazing. Anyone ever stay there?

Have you tried the Seaquest? It comes highly recommended in Sunset. wwww.seaq.com


Ain't Google and Sunset grand? Why anybody can become a travel "expert" using these sources.

Cannon Beach is a must-do for anybody headed to the Oregon Coast. Make sure you don't miss it.

Good choice. Have done that exact itenerary, except in reverse[I live in Washington]. Agree....the southern part of Oregon is wonderful...north is pretty but pretty dreary in comparison.
But, if you have never been there [north], it would be great. Seaside is a favorite, and Astoria is interesting....lots of history,and beauty. And wow, the lighthouses.....hummmmm great trip idea!

Now that you have your lodging picked out, you may want to go over to the chowhound PNW food board for some recommends on great places to eat!! **kim*** :)

Charile: www.chowhound.com is the address for all the food talk! Cannon Beach has some good shopping and there is a really nice outlet mall in Seaside that we love. (Even a wine outlet there with a fantastic little cafe connected to it!)

I believe Lincoln City also has some outlet malls. Astoria has really cool shops, also. Lots of antique things there. Seaside also has a place called Ter Har's that is amazing. Tons of beach wear, really beautiful store right on the main drag in Seaside.

Portland: we love the Riverplace Hotel, they have recently remodeled and it's supposed to be really nice now.

Location is right on the waterfront and walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. Try the Harborside for fresh, fresh, fish and a real Portland experience! ***kim***
