Best Ice Cream on Cape Cod

Where is the best of the best ice cream located on Cape Cod .. ?

cmcfong May 2nd, 2005 03:31 AM

The Four C's gets my vote.

cmcfong May 2nd, 2005 03:35 AM

I guess I should have mentioned it is in Osterville.

HI--I cannot possibly say what is the best on all of Cape Cod--*but* this one is really good!! Ben & Bill's Chocolate Emporium on Main Street in Falmouth Center.

Actually, I think 4Cs is actually Centerville, and yes, it is excellent!

Gardyloo May 2nd, 2005 05:55 AM

Has the 4Cs always been called that? I recall a killer ice cream place in Centerville (25 years ago?) but that name doesn't click.

Four Seas? Is that the place that has a check posted on the wall, a check that Jackie Kennedy used to pay for her ice cream?

Dreamer2 May 2nd, 2005 07:45 AM

Yup! That's it. I thought it was Four Seas too, but figured I was wrong since it's near a four-way (corner) intersection. Well, that's the one I'm thinking of anyway! Close to Craigville Beach and around the corner from the General Store with the Rep and Dem benches... right?

cmcfong May 2nd, 2005 08:21 AM

Either of you could be right, Four Seas or Four C's. For some reason I thought it was Four C's. But it is definitely THE place.

OK, I concede defeat on this. Still great ice cream.

I love ice cream and have read that Four Seas gets voted best ice cream on the Cape. We go up to the Cape every other year and this must be the only thing on our "to do" list that we haven't checked out at least once.

Just exactly WHERE is Centerville? I don't need Mapquest directions - just mid-cape, or outer-cape or where? About how far from Dennis?

Other good spots for ice cream:

Sundae School (Harwichport, Orleans)
Brewster Scoops (Brewster)--they serve ice cream from a Cape dairy. You'll also find the same flavors at other spots.

4 C's is in Centerville just about 14 miles from Dennis ... and well worth the trip .. Lots of people think the Sundae School is wonderful .. and night after night we went to the Sundae School until we went once to the 4's in Centerville .. and have not been back to the Sundae School or any other ice cream place since ! ! Do the trip .. take Route 6 ... it really is an easy ride .. just about a block or so from Craigville Beach ... ! ! And yes .. you will frequently see the Kennedy clan there ... !

Also if you are in the Dennis area .. in Dennisport .. cute place with great burgers, fries and hot dogs is The Dog House ... right in the same league as Captain Frosty's ...

My favorite is The Ice Cream Smuggler on Route 6A in East Dennis.

To end the confusion: 4C's is Cape Cod Community College. Four Seas is the ice cream store.

Centerville is right next door to Hyannisport, about 15 a min drive from downtown Hyannis. There is a nice, small playground around the corner, and a great general store nearby too. You could plan on spending the day at Craigville Beach, or strolling there after your ice creams. Osterville, the next town down, is quaint with a couple decent restuarants and some high end shopping. Have fun!

Good news .. Four Seas opens on May 20th for the season .. !

MommaFrog May 8th, 2005 04:58 AM

Sundae School is the happening place in Harwichport! Lots of fun and families having a grand time ...

But there's nothing like watching the kids run to the ice cream truck that comes to the beach in West Dennis - the one with the little dog named Lily!

Melissa May 27th, 2005 09:15 PM

Four Seas has nothing on SUNDAE SCHOOL in Dennisport....fresh whipped cream, homemade hot fudge, and fresh fruit toppings in season. I can't stand the way the lines form at Four Seas, its like a big free-for-all when its busy.

I vote for Sundae School too - we always stay across the street at the Colonial Villages, so needless to say it's a fattening week when we go!
