I cannot imagine how I forgot to mention the bath amenities at the Manoir de Minimes in Amboise, France. Fabulous.

On the trails around the Post Ranch Inn you can expect to find icy tubs of bottled water trailside, but I'd rather find what Mrs. Kal did!

I really liked the lighted, magnifying make up mirror (round, on an adjustable arm)that was in the bathroom at the Four Seasons in Austin. (I liked it so much that I bought one for home.)
Also, when we stayed at the Yacht Club at Disneyworld, I loved that over each side of both queen sized beds was a light, on a dimmer (for a total of 4 lights.) You really could read in bed without keeping everyone else up. Other features that I loved at the Yacht Club: A four drawer chest of drawers for clothing, in addition to the "normal" drawers; a shelf under the bathroom vanity, for storing things out of site. I know that lots of people don't think a lot of the Disney Resorts, but the rooms the Yacht Club, Beach Club, Grand Floridian and Boardwalk Inn are very well thought out. Check out the pictures on allearnet.com for proof. Of course, I always appreciate a small fridge. And I hear that flat screen TVs are the wave of the future in hotel rooms, although I have yet to stay in a hotel room that has one. I'd really appreciate a DVD player in the room, but I've never had that amenity. One thing that bugs me to death in a hotel room is a shortge of trash cans, and/or TINY little trash cans. It would be great for a hotel room to have a trash can that can hold more than 3 kleenex. |

Oh <i>beeehave,</i>.[-X We just got back from a quick trip up to Squaw Valley. Why we haven't been up there in over 25 yrs we still can't figger' out!!! We stayed at the Plump Jack and they had a nice, contemporary oscillating fan that we used the whole night. I hate it when you have to keep the a/c on just to get an air flow thru your room. It was quite nice and pretty quite, too. |

Hi IslandMom, When we were on Maui, they supplied and then replaced every day Bath & Body Works products that were so lovely. Special ones with aloe that soooooooooothed your tan skin. At Canoe Bay in WI, lovely Gilchrist & Soames hydrating body lotion, and here it was a 4 oz. bottle, not the little ones... Also I love it when they have bottled water for you. Someone that I knew years ago (Shhhhhhhhh, an old beau, don't tell Mr. Tiff that's where I got the idea, ha) traveled alot for work and gave me the idea of saving the little bottle of shampoos etc, from each trip and then donating them to a shelter when you get alot. I started doing that, I think years later I read something similar here. Anyway, we volunteer once a month serving dinner at a shelter, and when I offered up the most recent bag of B&BW goodies, they were very happy, ha. At a resort in Jamaica, they did what the others were saying about complimentary laundry service, that was very nice to go home wiht a suitcase full of clean laundry! I have nothing original for you, I am sorry. Let's put it this way, amenties are something that add to one's comfort, they are treats not expected. At the Grand Hotel in Vienna, in addition to turn down service with chocolates every evening, housekeeping came by twice a day with Bulgari toiletries.
What I found most interesting at the Grand, though, was the way you could control everything from the bedside phone--all the lights, the electronic do not disturb sign (beats having to hang that card on the door), even the opening and closing of the curtains! |
Stayed at a Motel 6. They left the light on, thank heaven!
That way could see well enough that I decided to avoid the "round the world" offered by the young lady er woman near the back entrance. She looked well-traveled -- well, maybe not well-traveled, but she'd definately been around. |

Portland, OR, Doubletree Lloyd center - they have 3 pillows on each bed, so you can choose soft, medium, firm. Nothing is more appreciated then a good night sleep.
Movenpick hotel, Switzerland (Zurich airport area) - when I walked in I thought the maid forgot to turn the TV off. Turned out, it was a greeting with my name from the check-in. Nice personal touch! The least favorite - A/Cs are usually noisy, hate that! |
I recently stayed in the charming Hotel Prinsenhof in Bruge, Belgium. Every night upon return to the room there was a box of Belgian chocolates on the freshly turned down bed. Also beautiful jazz music had always been turned on and a note card with details of the next day's weather was on the desk.

Our hotel room in Paris had a Bang & Olufsen plasma screen TV. When you turned it on with the remote, the TV swiveled to face you directly, wherever you were. Pretty cool. The bathroom had heated towel racks (very nice in December) and L'Occitane bath products.

Little chocolates and Kiehl's products are great but what really thrills me are when a room has a working thermostat and a heavy-duty 1800+ watt blow dryer!

Fresh flowers in the bedroom and the bath (in a B&B in Provence, France -- I thought they were silk until I noticed they were different the next day when we came back from a day of touring!

A nightlight in the bathroom, so you don't have to stumble around in the dark or blind yourself with the krieg light over the vanity.

I love it when a beach resort has a water hose conveniently placed outside so you can hose off your beach gear. It helps keep the pools clean.
The Bilbirnie House in Markinch Scotland has figured out amenitities. Molton Brown toiletries, a HEATED towel rack, a trouser press, fresh flowers, homemade fudge, bottled water and sherry and staff who know you by name. |
