Evidently, the verdict is in and the answer is Atlanta!

I've not eaten at these 3 Atlanta burger destinations - but will soon!

Haven't yet eaten at ALL the burger places in America yet so can't make a decision at this time.

I think the article should specify that the burger he ate in Atlanta was the best of all the places he actually ate rather than in the entire country.

Mc Donald's, naturally.

Well, although the article mentions that this one beat out Boulud's $32 burger, I'd still vote for it as being unbelievably good, although it's apparently gone up a few dollars since I tried it.

I'd vote for foie gras in a burger anyday over the bacon cheeseburger and seasoned salt one the author raves for -- even without tasting it.

I don't like burgers much, but the BEST one ever is at Boon Fly Cafe in the Carneros region of Napa (on Hwy 12). Great Kobe burger!!

The In-n-Out burger may not be the best in that reporter's eyes, but when you can have a full meal for less than <b>$6</b> all in, I'll take it.

And, best of all, I don't have to go to Atlanta to sample it. I've got three In-n-Outs within four miles of my house!!

rjw, that's exactly what I was thinking when I saw this thread!!! Whenever I'm in SoCal, a stop at In-n-Out is MANDATORY!

. . . and I'm not even a big red meat fan!

We had lunch today at Fatburger, new to us here in Florida, but I've seen a zillion of them in the West. What a horrible hamburger. It was grilled until way overcooked and dry and seemed rather crunchy. At first I just thought it was the sort of burned crust on the burger, but then I started pulling tiny pieces of ground bone and/or gristle out of my mouth. I won't be back. At $9 for a 1/3 pound (seemed smaller) burger, fries, and soft drink -- it's no deal either, especially with an extra dollar if you want a slice of American cheese -- what's the extra profit margin in that extra -- about 1000 percent?

Patrick, that's terrible! Especially because Fatburger does put out a nice, juicy product out here in CA. My diet can't handle more than one a month, but sometimes you gotta risk the cholesterol spike.

Legend has it Julia Child traveled with the latest list of In-'n'-Outs whenever she was in California (being a native, she knew of their myriad charms...). If it was good enough for her, it's good enough for me. Bon app&eacute;tit!!

Best burger I ever had was at McGuire's Irish Pub in Pensacola, Florida in 1990. It was an 8oz prime beef burger and included a bottle of Dom Perignon for $100.00. ((b))

Yum, I can down any burger with a side of DP :-) Maybe I'd eat more burgers if I ordered a split of champagne with them! :-)

I have it on good authority that the best burgers are at Morvant's in Youngsville, LA. We will be in that area in June - I will let you all know the verdict when I return.

The best burgers used to be at Hal's Grubsteak in Yuba City, CA, but sadly they closed up shop a few years ago. My family is still in mourning.

I will avoid FatBurger Patrick when I'm in Vegas, which is where I was going to have one last time I was there.
FYI, in my area of San Jose/ South Bay area, I like Clarkes Charburger and Kirk's.

Haven't read the article yet but see that it says Atlanta. No way does this beat a DB - no way! Give me my DB and don't ban foie gras!
