Best Branson restaurant, NOT FAST FOOD
Can someone make a suggestion of a good restaurant not the typical tourist fare but some actual really good food and atmosphere would be good too. Thanks.

There is a very nice restaurant called "Candlelight" (or something similar--"candle" is in the name) that is up on a bluff overlooking the Tanycomo River and Old Downtown Branson. Steaks, lobster, duck--very nice fare.
|
Dimitri's which is downtown on Lake Taneycomo. Nice atmosphere, good food, but do make a reservation.
|
You might consider the restaurant at Chateau on the Lake or any of the three restaurants at Big Cedar Lake Lodge (Worman House is "fancy" and Top of the Rock has the best view.)
The "Candlelight" restaurant is the Candlestick Inn and Dimitris, unfortunately is gone. What a shame---------it was a wonderful restaurant! Mr Dimitris decided to sell out and make room for the new lakefront development project. |
We enjoy the Outback. It's not the Outback Steakhouse you might be thinking of. iT is on the main strip. It does have an Australian outback theme and pretty good food.

I hate to hear that Dimitri's closed. I agree with Chateau and Big Cedar being good choices. |
Gum Rai Thai is moderately priced and food is VERY good. we split 2 different seafood dishes and really enjoyed both. They have several desserts, abd that was goo too, but I can't remember exactly what we had. It is in a strip mall across from Walmart on "the strip". the interior is not posh, but we enjoyed it--the walls are bright and they have large paintings of Thai legends. the only negative in my opinion was that they didn't serve beer. the staff were very nice.

Oops, make that "and that was good too", not "abd that was goo too".

Hi,
I live in the Branson area, and I have eaten at almost all the "non-fast food" places. Big Cedar is my absolute favorite - especially Devil's Pool. Drive past the restaurant to park, and be sure you walk across the footbridge. I would definately recommend reservations - it can be pretty difficult to get in. Great atmosphere - very big, lodge feeling with rock fireplaces and great views of the lake. Have a nice trip! |
Depends what you call atmosphere...
One of our favorites is Shorty Smalls. It looks kind of like a barn, done in a rustic antique sort of way. Relaxed atmosphere, great service and great food. We have always been pleased. |
I totally agree with Big Cedar and Chateau on the Lake. Whenever we are in this area we make sure we have dinner at both places and always enjoy it. Pretty surroundings in both places too.
